The gallows stair, the hangman’s grin,

Concluding your last day,

A wretched life, consumed by sin,

From God, you turned away

A single crow is laughing now,

You do not get the joke,

Gritting teeth and bloated pride,

On scornful words, you choke

The crowd has come to watch you swing,

So many you have hurt,

Hark the herald angels sing,

Your destiny, the dirt

To repent, to you, would be absurd,

For Christ, you have no time,

The Holy Book is more than words,

That cold hearts never find

Upon your throat, the rope pulled tight,

The sands of time are gone,

Untouched you curse the Lord of light,

Now witness your last dawn

The crowd has come to watch you swing,

Now they will get their show,

A horrid snap, with death it brings,

Your soul will burn below
