"Hi!  I'm Amber White.  I'm 16 years old.  I live with my family: my parents, Amy and Sean, and my 2 sisters, Mary (aged 14) and Grace, (aged 12).

We are a close family.  I couldn't ask for better parents.  My sisters and I are best friends.  At school, my teachers love my work, (I don't mean to brag, but i'm a brainiac).  I'm also head cheerleader, and captin of the hockey team.

I'm also a bit of a dreamer.  I know, not what you'd expect to hear from an A student right?  But yeah, I am.  I suppose i've always been imaginative.  It's how i've come up with my best ideas for school projects, and at night when i'm in dreamland, my imagination truly comes to life...

I've been a gifted lucid dreamer (which is the ability to wake up in your dreamworld) since the age of four.  When everyone else around me felt generally rested the next day, I always felt refreshed and raring to go!  I often told my parents that I flew with angels, or swamm with mermaids to magical worlds...

My dream.

Anyway, last night, I had this truly awesome dream, you have just got, to hear.  Ready?!  Here we go.

Once the usual sleep paralysis (which always prevents me from actually acting out my dreams in the real world) has worn off, I find myself on a pristine beach.  The sun is shining, there are blue skys, all of that.  I am just relaxing, listening to the gentle lapping of the waves, when a head popps out of the water.  A familiar voice greets me.  "Hi amber!  Remember me?!".

It takes me a moment to realise that it's Megan, the mermaid I befriended when I was four.  This trigger makes me realise that i'm dreaming.  So my Lucid Dream begins...

"Oh my god!  Megan!  I haven't seen you in ages!   Not since I first began controling my dreams.  Ah I can still remember how terrifying this new world was, untill you showed me the ropes...  Thanks!"

"No problem!" she replies.

"So what are you doing here?!" I ask curiously.

"Well, i'm bored.  All my other friends have moved away to new reefs, in the atlantic ocean.  My parents aren't any fun.  They just tell me to swim off and join my friends.  But I don't want to.  I love it here in the pecific!  It's were I grew up, as you know...".

"Aww poor you, having no one to play with.  So why are you here?".  I enquire.

"I was wondering, do you want to play for an hour in your time?".

"OK!  Sure!  But remember, I can't stay long.  I need to be back before the moon comes up.  I don't want to stay stuck as a mermaid forever.  No offence.".

"None taken.  Great!  Let's go let's go!", Megan cheers.

So I walk towards the edge of the sand towards Megan.  She puts her hand on my shoulder for a few seconds.  The familiar sensation of warmth radiates within me.  Suddenly I feel light, and energised.  I float up into the air, and dive into the sea after Megan.

We end up travelling to her home, which is in a beautiful palace, like in a fairytale.  We play with the seals, dolphins and whales, for what feels like hours.  For me, it feels great being a mermaid again.  However temporary the transformation.  It feels wonderful being able to communicate using thought as well as spoken words, breathing naturally underwater, swimming at the speed of light, and controling the water with my old powers.  My favourite power is creating huge bubbles, and playfully trying to catch Megan and our new friends, within them.

At long last, it is unfortunately time to go.  I can see the sun beginning to set, as I perch on a rock, to rest.  I say a reluctant goodbye to the dolphins, seals and whales, and promise to see them again soon.

Megan escorts me back to the seashore.

"It was great catching up again Amber.  I hope we can meet up again soon.  I've really enjoyed playing with you today.".

"yeah, same here.  See you soon then, girl!".  I respond.

With that, Megan puts her hand on my shoulder for a second.  As before, I feel the warm energy radiating within my body.

In my human form once again, I climb bac out of the sea.

I watch Megan swim away.

As I walk towards my clothes on the sand, my dream begins to slip away.  I open my eyes and find myself back in my bedroom.

"What a great dream." I mumble drowsily, before turning over and going back to sleep.
