I wish I had a lion's heart

But wishes don't come true

For if I had a lion's heart

I'd never given it to you.

I wish I had a warrior's heart

That wept courage through its veins

For if I had a warrior's heart

I'd walk away from you.

I wish I had a clockwork heart

One that kept a steady pace

For if I had a clockwork heart

I'd not care about your face.

But my heart is weak and fickle

Never under my control

This useless thing keeps pumping

Worth less than burned charcoal.
