This is 20 years after Trillian left Earth in Mostly Harmless. I am only at the beginning of the book, so I don't know much about what happened after she left.

It’s been about twenty Earth years since I have left earth, I think. I really don’t know because of all of this travelling throughout the world. It kind of sucks being in the same ship as Zaphod Beeblebrox and Ford Prefect, but Arthur Dent is okay. I no longer feel that emptiness of not going to space with Zaphod, because based on my experience I am extremely glad that I went and got my bag, causing him to leave. This guy is a maniac. But I feel a weird connection with Zaphod, almost like in an alternate universe I was forced to marry him. That would have been a weird alternate universe. Like, it would probably have lucky four leaf clovers instead of lucky three leaf clovers or something stupid like that. Anyway, I still remember that interview with those strange aliens from Rupert. They took me to that planet, Rupert I think, which was the tenth planet away from the sun or something. Wait, why am I telling me this? I’m going to be the only one reading this thing, anyway! But seriously. It’s too bad that I couldn’t get an exclusive on that interview on Earth. I’m glad I left it, though. Earth was so boring compared to this. Here in space is awesome. When I’m not traveling, I guess. Travelling through space has gotten old. Just like me. But the planets I see are way cooler than Earth. I can see anything I want to see. There isn’t much I actually do want to see anymore. I’ve seen it all. But that still doesn’t change the fact that I’m glad I left Earth. I have lived my life to its full extent. Ford Prefect decided to try going insane for the past two weeks. Again. Every time he runs out of movies or something else dumb to do he decides to go crazy. Then, once he’s bored with that, he decides to go to some super long party on a random planet and get drunk out of his mind and sneak into the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy building for seemingly no reason. And Zaphod Beeblebrox encourages Arthur going to parties. No, he goes with Ford to the parties. Zaphod almost didn’t care about not being the Prime Minister of the galaxy, because he had better things to do. Get drunk out of both of his minds. It’s fine when they’re gone, but kind of boring. I mean, Arthur Dent and his girlfriend are good people, but they only really talk with each other. Plus it’s awkward to talk with with Arthur after ditching him at a party for the two-headed Zaphod Beeblebrox. Anyway, Zaphod and Ford are up to something dumb, so I have to go and stop them before they blow up the whole ship.
