The Day The Demon Came

The Day The Demon Came,
was a ridiculous day indeed.
It started with sun, and ended in guns,
fired from cowboys reluctant to bleed.

The Day The Demon Came,
unlike any other day in the West.
The men all joined forces, and charged with their horses,
to show the Demon these men were the best.

The Day The Demon Came,
had started with a bleak cup of Joe.
The Sherriff despaired, and hardly even cared,
in truth, he was desperate to go.

The Day The Demon Came,
the Sherriff was thinking of quitting.
His job was too dangerous, the townsfolk outrageous,
Yet the boredom he felt was contagious.

The Day The Demon Came,
truly began with the people all screaming.
The Sherriff went out, to see what the fuss was about,
and there was the creature that came without warning.

The Day The Demon Came,
people could scarcely believe they were seeing
A creature so red, they knew they’d be dead,
if they did not get themselves fleeing.

The Day The Demon Came,
he stood nine feet tall and redder than blood.
His wings they were black, he went on the attack,
the only way a real demon should.

The Day The Demon Came,
The Sherriff ran to the saloon.
He needed a drink, but hadn’t even time for a think,
He needed himself a platoon.

The Day The Demon Came,
The Sherriff had called men to arms.
They were reluctant at first, they protested and cursed,
but they knew this was cause for alarm.

The Day The Demon Came,
the townsfolk let bygones be bygones.
Old enemies aligned, old feuds, they had died,
and the men had all reached for their guns.

The Day The Demon Came,
The people of the town stood and fought.
The saloon, it did empty. The men, they were ready.
To face the evils the Demon had brought.

The Day The Demon Came,
the men had all ran to the stables.
The readied their steeds, and then they ran free,
charging the beast with all force they were able.

The Day The Demon Came,
was truly a phenomenal battle.
Bullets went flying, the Demon went crying,
like a beaten and branded scared cattle.

The Day The Demon Came,
should have been the day that mankind finally fell.
But it was High Noon in the West, and the men were the best,
and the Demon was sent back to Hell.

The Day The Demon Came,
was a party long into the night.
The people went wild, they had won in style,
they had all survived this real plight.

The Day The Demon Came,
The Sherriff no longer felt down.
He was beaming with pride, for his people did ride,
he felt nothing but love for his town.
