One of the fondest memories I have with my sister Ann is being at the lake skipping stones. She would always outnumber me with the number of skips. She had a knack for it. The ripples on the lake were so shiny and beautiful. Sometimes almost blinding under the brilliant sun.

When we were little kids, she would get upset with me for following her around. As we got older, we became best friends. I think she was the only person in the world who really understood me in every aspect.

We would love walking along the railroad tracks barefoot, swimming in the neighbor’s pond, swimming at the lake during a warm summer rain, roasting marshmallows, going for joyrides, drawing (she taught me so much about art), listening to music. Endless memories. And her dog Styx, what a gentle soul. That dog was always by our side.

I would give anything for just one more ripple.
