Stalker

My sister and I were walking back home from the store (we couldn’t drive because my sister’s car got towed) when all of a sudden a truck pulled up and some man in an old, ignoble white truck on it rolled the window down and started talking to us.

“Hi there,” he said, with a creepy smile on his face.

“Um who are you?” I replied.

“Well you don’t know me but I noticed you guys have been walking around for a while now,” he

said, “is there a specific place you guys are going? I could give you a ride if you want.”

Haley and I (my sister) looked at each other creeped out. My sister is nineteen and I am fifteen. We lived on our own then.

“Thanks but we were just on our way home,” said my sister. We started walking away and he pulled up again.

“It’s getting kind of cold out, are you sure you don’t need a ride?” he said.

Then we ran away because we were really creeped out at this point. About five minutes after that I got a text from a random saying, “did you make it home safe?” My sister asked me how he got my number.

“I don’t know,” I said. I told him yeah and he read it as soon as I sent it.

“No you didn’t, I see you guys right now. You are still walking,” he replied.

We looked around and didn’t see the truck or anyone else standing nearby.

“Block him,” Haley said. So I did and then we ran home.

We thought it was just some random guy messing around with us, trying to scare us.

---

Then, I got a text from someone on facebook. The name was “John Steadman”. The account didn’t have a profile picture and they only had a few posts but none of them had him in it.

John: Hi there.

Me: Who is this?

John: I came across your page and thought you were pretty cute.

Me: Um thanks? But can you send me a picture of you so I can see what you look like?

He sent a picture of some kid who looked about fifteen. I knew it was obviously fake because

It looked like an old picture off google and well you could just tell it was fake.

Me: I’m blocking you..

John: Okay but you can’t get rid of me. No matter how hard you try.

I immediately blocked him and told my sister. She was the only person I had then so I couldn’t tell anyone else about it.

---

The day after that I went to work. I worked at Starbucks and I was all alone when some man came in.

“Hi,” he said, with a weird smirk on his face, staring at me.

“Hi what can I get you today?” I replied.

“Can I get a peppermint mocha please?’ he said.

“Yes coming right up.” I replied.

While I was preparing it for him I heard him say something.

“You’re a very pretty young lady,” he said.

I didn’t answer him because that was really weird he looked so much older than me and just kept staring smiling at me. I hurried up and got him his drink.

“Thank you,” he said. And then he walked out.

I looked at the clock. It was 10:00. Finally time for me to leave. I packed up my stuff and got ready to leave when all of a sudden the old man walked back in again.

“Are you leaving now?” he said.

“Yeah,” I replied.

“It is kind of dark out, would you like a ride home?” he said with a smile on his face.

“No thanks, I’ll be fine.” I said.

“Are you sure?” he said.

“I’m sure.”

He just looked at me and walked out with a sort of upset look on his face, like he was mad at me for saying no to him. Then I realized it was the same creepy old man that was watching me and my sister. I called her and told her about it. She told me to get my stuff and to hurry up and come home as soon as I could. I got out of there and back home as soon as I could. We lived in a small white opulent ranch house in Florida.

When I got home, I noticed the same truck parked outside of our house. I went in the kitchen to get my sister and show her. When we came back in the living room, the truck was gone.

“Are you sure you seen a truck out there?” she said.

“I’m positive,” I replied.

We called the cops and told them we thought someone was stalking us. There were no stalking laws back then, so there wasn’t really anything they could do about it, but they told us to tell them if anyone tried to hurt us.

My sister and I were terrified then because like I said before, we lived by ourselves so there was no one there to protect us anymore. All we had was each other.

But anyways, back to the story. That same night I went into my sister’s room crying.

“Haley I can’t fall asleep,” I said, “I feel like someone’s watching me.”

“You can sleep in my room if you want,” she said.

“Okay,” I replied, “can we go check in my room just to be sure?”

We went in my room and looked around. We didn’t see anything suspicious. Then we left my room and all of a sudden we heard a knocking sound coming from what sounded like the back door.

“Stay here,” said Haley, “I’ll go check it out.”

“No, you can’t go by yourself. I’m coming with you,” I replied.

We went to the back door and checked all around the house. There were no signs of around or anything that would’ve been making the noise. That was all that happened that night. We went back to bed and that was it.

---

The next day.

“I’ll see you later Ashley I’m going to work. I’ll be back a little past ten,” my sister said. “Call me if you need me.”

“I will,” I replied. “Goodbye.”

Then she left. I was all alone then. I went in the living room to watch Netflix and eat food for the rest of the day. It started getting dark around 8:30.

I was making pizza in the kitchen when all of a sudden I heard the door open from the living room. I grabbed a knife and started going in the living room and the door slammed shut. I stood still and didn’t hear anything.

I started walking back into the kitchen when all of a sudden someone grabbed me from behind. I stabbed him and ran. I hid in my room and locked the door. I went to grab my phone and realized it was gone, I must’ve dropped it somewhere. I went to the window and started to open it when all of a sudden I heard the door break down. All I seen was some deleterious looking man standing in the doorway. The same man that came in the store. I reached for the window but he ran over and grabbed me and pulled me down.

He covered my mouth and tied my hands together and took me into his truck. I kept kicking and fighting to get him off of me but it didn’t work. It was about 9:50 when I was making my pizza so it has to be at least ten now. My sister should be home now. I looked out the window and seen her car pull into the driveway. There was nothing I could do at that point. The truck had tinted black windows and it was dark out so she obviously could not see me.

The man took the tape off my mouth and pointed a gun at my head.

“Don’t scream or I will shoot you,” he said.

“Why are you doing this?” I replied.

“SHUT UP!” he yelled.

“Please let me go, I’ll do anything,” I said in an obsequious way.

He ignored me and kept driving.  We came to a stop and he taped my mouth shut again and dragged me inside to his house. He locked me in a small room when all of a sudden I heard the front door open. It was Haley.

“WHERE’S MY D*MN SISTER?!” she yelled.

I started kicking the door so maybe she would hear me but she didn’t. After that I heard a gunshot and then fighting. I got the tape off my mouth and started screaming for Haley. She started running up the stairs and yelled for me.

“ASHLEY WHERE ARE YOU?!” she screamed.

“I’m in here!” I yelled.

She broke the door down, untied my hands and we went downstairs. We thought we were okay when all of a sudden that guy came running out of the other room towards us. My sister grabbed my hand and ran. There was a gun lying on the floor ahead of us. She ran for it, picked it up and shot him three times in the head. And then it was over because I woke up and it was all just a dream.
