Super Moon

Last night I saw the moon. It was bigger than usual, much brighter and way more detailed. I would have taken a photo but my camera, of course, was out of battery. Never mind, tonight it’s supposed to be even nearer.

All day I’ve been hearing about it, how the moon is going to be closer to the Earth than it has been since 1948. Today I made sure I put my camera on charge. As soon as it got dark I went outside and the moon – not a sight of it. Not even a glimpse, a slither, a tiny bit of moonlight.

And now I’m feeling cheated. I got snaps of the last solar eclipse. My cheap little camera coped with the glare much more efficiently than the flashier ones of others. The moon would not create light problems, no streaks or flares for the lens to cope with. It was going to be a great opportunity.

But cloud has foiled my plans. I’ll go out later, looking for breaks in that cloud cover but I’m not holding out much hope. If there’s still no sign I will have to wait for another 18 years to get a similar chance. Oh, well.....
