Author’s note:

This is taking place during the episode “Flash vs. Arrow” right before when Flash comes up to Iris to tell her that that wasn’t him that was pretty much trying to kill Eddie. Also, I do not own the Flash or any of the characters.

The Speedster Gets Caught

“Captain Singh approved the task force.” Eddie told Iris. “You wanted me to believe the Flash was real, now I do. I believe he’s dangerous, and I’m gonna take him in. How do you feel about that?”

“All I know is how I feel about you.” Iris responded. She embraced Eddie in a hug.

That night, Iris went out onto the roof after closing up Jitters. “I got your message.” She said after seeing the Flash.

“I wanted you to know, last night… that wasn’t me.”

“It sure looked like you.”

“Yeah, I was affected by one of the metahumans, he messed with my head. But I’m okay now, I promise.”

“I defended you. Everyone kept telling me that you were a danger. My Father, Barry, Eddie, I didn’t listen to them, I never listened to them. But now it’s time I did. I’m sorry.”

Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in his left leg that started spreading through his body. Barry let out a gasp of pain. He looked down and saw some sort of dart lodged in his calf. He reached down and pulled it out, just before he started to get dizzy. He collapsed onto the floor. Before his eyes closed, he saw two figures standing over him. He could make them out to be Eddie and Iris. Two people he thought he could trust, but apparently they could only trust Barry. A second later, he fell unconscious.

At CCPD…

“Hey Eddie, have you seen Barry, I’ve been looking for him everywhere and I can’t find him.” Joe asked.

“No, come to think of it, I haven’t seen him all day. I wonder where he is,” Eddie responded.

Joe paid a visit to S.T.A.R. Labs to see if they knew where Barry was.  “Hey guys, have you seen Barry? I can’t find him anywhere.”

“No, I thought he was at the CCPD with you,” Cisco answered. Cisco and Caitlin gave each other worried looks. “I’ll check security cams.”

“I’ll check his vitals, see if he’s okay,” Caitlin said.

“Whoa guys, what’s going on, where’s Barry?” Joe asked.

“We don’t know. That’s the thing with Barry, he could be anywhere,” Cisco said.

“We haven’t seen him since yesterday afternoon. For Barry, that could mean a number of things,” Caitlin explained. She pulled up a chart on her computer screen. “Barry’s unconscious. Some sort of fluid was released into his system causing him to temporarily pass out.”

“He’s not on our radar. Wherever he is, I’m not picking up any signals from his suit,” Cisco said.

“Maybe there was some sort of Meta who kidnapped him. Maybe it was even Snart?” Caitlin suggested. “I’ll check the news, see if anyone reported seeing any metas.”

“I’ll check to see if I can find Snart.”

“What’s going on in here?” Dr. Wells asked as he wheeled into the room.

“Dr. Wells, Barry’s missing,” Caitlin explained.

“Have you checked to see if he’s out of the city? It could be that he’s on some sort of sudden emergency that he had to get out of town for,” Dr. Wells suggested.

“We checked his health to see if that was the case and he was actually fine, but he’s unconscious. Some sort of chemical has been released into his system. He should wake up soon, but he was defiantly kidnapped by somebody,” Caitlin explained.

“Well if he was darted, they must’ve taken him by surprise which means he was distracted. That means that we’re looking for more than one person.” Dr. Wells explained.

“Could it have been a meta?” Caitlin asked.

“Probably not, because if he didn’t contact any of you than it couldn’t have been an enemy or anyone he was threatened by. So it was probably something or someone he was comfortable with or distracted by. There most likely wasn’t any fighting involved.

Barry woke up in a small room with padded walls. He could feel that his mask was still on, so that meant that whoever had put him in there most likely hadn’t gotten a good look at his face. The room looked eerily similar to one of the cells at S.T.A.R. Labs. One wall was glass. On the opposite side of the glass wall was darkness. A minute later, a light came on. Eddie stepped into the room. Barry stood up as soon as he saw the detective. “Detective,” he said, changing his voice so Eddie wouldn’t recognize him. “Why did you put me in here?”

“You’re a danger to Central City,” he said simply.

“No, I’m not. All I want to do is protect Central City.”

“Says the guy who tried to kill me, that is before the Arrow showed up.”

Barry shook his head. “I wasn’t myself, alright?”

“Were you being mind controlled?”

“No, not necessarily.”

“Now, unless you were, I say you take responsibility for your own actions.”

“Is that what you came in here to tell me?”

“No. I want to know who you are.” He took a step closer to the glass dividing them. Barry blurred his features. “Fine. If you don't show me who you are, you can just stay in here the rest of your life. Letting me know your identity might give me a reason to set you free.”

“I’ll have to think about it.”

“I’ll give you until tomorrow to make the decision. I’ll be back by 6:00. Tell me, and I’ll look into it. Don’t and you’ll stay here until further notice. Am I clear?”

Barry had never seen Eddie so stern before. “Yeah.” Eddie turned and left the room.

As soon as Eddie left the room, he started looking for some sort of escape. He searched the edges of the walls, trying to find a weakness. He patted the low ceiling, trying to see if there was some way out through the top. Then he got an idea. He tried his comms. “Cisco buddy, are you there?” There was static but 2 seconds later, a voice came from the other end. “Barry, can you hear me?”

“Yeah.”

“We lost you on our radar, where are you?”

“I’m not sure. I was kidnapped and put in a cell somewhere.”

“Well, come on, do you know who took you?”

“Yeah, it was Eddie.”

“Wait, Eddie as in Eddie Thawne?”

“Yeah. He’s been out to get me, you know, the flash for a while. He darted me and brought me here, wherever this place is.”

“Huh.”

“Barry, is that you?” Caitlin’s voice.

“Yeah, it’s me,” Barry responded.

“You’ve been gone for almost 2 days.”

“Really? It’s already been that long?”

“Yeah, we searched for you everywhere. Seriously dude, is there any indication as to where you might be?” Cisco asked.

“Uh, this cell is pretty much impenetrable. It’s like the ones at S.T.A.R. Labs. So I’m guessing whoever made this had access to tech. So I’m guessing maybe Mercury Labs?”

“It’s a start. We’ll see what we can get.” Caitlin said.

“I’ll hack the security cameras,” Cisco suggested. “See if anything looks suspicious.

“Thanks guys.” Barry said.

“Don’t thank us yet.” Caitlin warned. Barry hung up. He slumped to the ground. So this is what it feels like being trapped in one of those cells. Barry thought.

About 20 minutes later, Cisco told Barry, “So we checked into it and I’m pretty sure that’s where they’re keeping you. Now all we have to do is figure a way to get you out.”

“Mr. Allen, do you see any kind of device that might open your cell? Is there a lock, is there a combination, is there a fingerprint scanner, is there anything that might give us a clue as to a way we might be able to get you out?” Dr. Wells asked.

Barry looked passed the glass and into the room. All three walls that were visible were gray. There was nothing in the room other than him. “I searched this cell a hundred times, and I swear there is no way out. Also there is nothing else that I can see that might give me a clue. But guys, Eddie told me that if I told him who I was, he might just let me go. I’m sure that if he knew who I was, he would take it as a misunderstanding and just let me go. He knows me. I’m sure he would come to his senses.”

“Remember you did try to kill him when you were affected by Prism a couple days ago. He may still have something against you for that,” Cisco warned.

“I think I should take the chance. Dr. Wells, what do you think?”

“I think you should. There is a risk, but like you said, he would most likely let you go seeing as how he knows you Barry Allen,” Dr. Wells suggested.

“Alright then, I’m going to do it. I’ll tell Eddie I’m the Flash.”

The next day at 6 o’clock, Eddie walked into the room. Barry stood up at his entrance. “So, have you decided to tell me who you are?” Eddie asked.

Barry nodded and carefully slid his mask off. “My name is Barry Allen, and I am the fastest man alive.”

Eddie stood there dumbfounded. “Barry? You’re the Flash? The guy that I’ve been working with, the guy who’s like a brother to my girlfriend, you’re the Flash?”

“Yeah.”

“Why did you try to kill me?”

“I told you, I wasn’t myself. I was put under some kind of spell by one of the metahumans. It made me so angry at everything. I would never do anything like that in my right mind.”

“You can let him go.” Eddie said to the microphones hidden in the room. “By the way, you’re gonna have to explain this to Iris when you get the chance because she’s listening on the other end,” he explained as the glass lifted, freeing Barry.

“Ah, seriously?”

“Yeah.”

Barry shook his head and sped out of Mercury Labs and back to S.T.A.R. Labs. He sped to a stop in the cortex.

“And he’s back!” Cisco said.

“Yeah,” Barry breathed.

“Did you tell Eddie?” Caitlin asked.

“Yeah, and Iris.”

“You told Iris?”

“I didn’t mean too. I didn’t know she was listening, but apparently they had microphones in there and she was on the other end. In fact I’ll call her right now.” Barry pulled out his phone and typed in her number. After the 2nd ring, she picked up.

“Hi, Iris.”

“Barry, or should I say the Flash.”

“Can we talk about this in person? Meet me at Jitters.”

“Yeah.”

He hung up, quickly changed, and ran to Jitters.

“I don’t think I’ll ever look at you the same way, now that I know you’re the Flash,” Iris said when Barry sat down across from her at Jitters. “Why didn’t you tell me? I can keep a secret.”

“It’s not about that, it was about keeping you safe. It’s not safe for you to know. That’s why I never told you, I was protecting you.”

“I don’t need protection. Come on Barry, you know me, I can take care of myself.”

“Yeah. I know, I should’ve told you.”

“Yeah, you should’ve.” She got up and left Jitters.
