ARACHNID

Like aliens,

They build funnels,

and tunnels;

And one great giant master web

as if they are in preparation,

For their hive mind to condemn

Humans to eradication,

Little legs, eight writhe at once

and mandibles they bear to reach,

"Might as well be blades," I say. Tiny daggers:

To slit our throats,

Our blood to leech.

They may not be quite as bad,

As invisible,

biological,

pathogenic warfare.

Maybe that is true of all;

But I need no microscope,

Nor to bear a lens.

To see these, distorted, malformed beings,

Plotting against us,

Till our time here ends.
