Virtuality

Standby,

Verify,

My integrity.

Is this reality,

Or virtual,

A world of binary strings

and text based magic,

This life may be tragic.

If we're not real,

All that we feel,

Are simulated dreams,

Sifted from the seams,

Of a HDD in a server bank.

Data on some massive screen,

For some alien observer,

It's absurd it's obscene,

That this might all be fake,

Like the Portal Cake,

Just an item

from a video game,

But also a lie,

a trap

For the one who thinks and breathes.

Nothing even matters

All discoveries are meaningless,

Since our world is generated,

Someone already knows this.

Or does any one really know anything?

Are thoughts a real thing?

Or just artificial intelligence

telling us what to do in the end,

Like the hand of fate guiding existence

Programmed with no way to bend.

So how do we know,

If this is reality,

Or some twisted alien motherfucker's dreams,

If so,

then say hello,

to Virtuality.

You might not get another chance.

And we have yet to see.
