You wake up to find yourself surrounded by your dead friends. How did this happen? Galia knows.

(Ü = normal U)

Your eyes flutter open as you finally awaken. A fire flickers casting a shadow over the bodies laying around you. The blood obscures their faces, but you remember each corpse's name. Molly and Ella are the two on the right, and Tim is on your left. His beautiful face, one you admired greatly, was once full of light, but now it appears that his soul has taken flight. To verify your knowledge, you check his pulse. His skin is cold and his body is limp. You let go and watch as his body is pulled down by gravity.

You are frightened, as one surrounded by their dead friends often are. The shadows around you curl and stretch. An unknown evil has awoken from their slumber. You can barley see her, but you can feel her. A non-corporeal demon with oily black skin, and soulless white eyes bares for you her pearly teeth in the wickedest grin. Her lips peel back as she begins to speak.

"AWAKE AT LAST, MY DEAR FRIEND." She looks around at the work you've done. "I MÜST SAY BÜDDY, WE WERE NOT EXPECTING THIS. PERHAPS YOU COÜLD HAVE SAVED THEM." She says sarcastically. Something about her makes you cringe, yet simultaneously, her presence made you comfortable. You apologize furiously to the being hovering before you. She cackles insanely and wipes a fake tear, but you have no heart to join her.

"MY LOVE! HAVE YOÜ NO HÜMOR?"

Currently, you do not. You do not get her joke. All of your friends are dead. A hand is held out in a stopping motion. "YOÜ DON'T REMEMBER, DO YOÜ? NO? I CAN HELP WITH THAT. THAT'S PART OF BEING A DEVINE BEING. YOÜ CAN TRÜST ME, DOLL. MY NAME IS GALIA."

Your vision fades and your body falls, but this time it is because of her. Another scene appears before you. A familiar scene. Tim, Ella, and Molly sit around a younger flame in the room you were in earlier. The four of the had gone to Tim's family cabin. It was gigantic and could be compared to a mansion more than a little shack in the woods.

A shrill voice calls out to you. "Are you okay, friend?" It's the girl you envy most, Ella, Tim's girlfriend.

"Just zoning out. I was overcome by a bout of sleepiness."

"Haha! That rhymed!" Tim laughs.

"That is such a crime!" Ella chimes in idiotically.

"I think that y'all should see a shrink." You add brilliantly.

"Okay. That's a bit of a stretch." Your fragile ego smashes into the ground like a game bird as Tim shoots you down.

"Who actually calls a doctor a shrink?"

"And who says 'y'all'?"

Your gaze turns down at your shuffling feet. The moment pauses on the girls' twisted faces and Tim's head thrown back in laughter. Galia appears next to you. It is obvious that she is outraged.

"DO YOÜ SEE THIS? THEY ARE GANGING ÜP ON YOÜ! HOW COÜLD YOÜ LET THOSE FOOLS HÜRT YOÜ!" She takes a calming breath and continues. "YOÜ LOVE TIM. YOÜ NEED TO TAKE HIM FOR YOÜRSELF."

"Hey! Since it's dark outside, we should tell scary stories!" Tim suggests as the scene resumes.

"I know one." You pitch in.

"Which one?" Ella shakes and clutches onto Tim's shirt.

"The tale of the hookman!" You reply ominously. Lightning flashes illuminating the room. Seconds later, thunder booms. Ella holds on tighter. The story is short, but it scares your audience in the way you intended. The storm brews outside as rain begins to fall.

"That story is fake and everybody knows it!" Tim whimpered as hand gripped his shoulder tightly causing him to jump. The owner of the hand giggles.

"We've got a scary cat here!" Molly says between pants.

"Haha." He claps slowly. "Very funny."

"Hehe! You should have seen your face!" Ella points.

He sighs and cracks a smile. They snickered and get closer.

"NO. NO. NO! REVERSE THIS!" Galia screeches in your ear, but you both know that you cannot change the past. However, you know how to change the present for a favorable future.

Your eyes dart around your surroundings. Although you all were in a nice building, Tim had everybody sit around the furnace in the basement. "For ambiance." He said.

Your gaze stops on the open window as a gust of wind blows out the fire. "Why was the window open if it's raining outside!"

"There wasn't supposed to be a storm. This was unexpected!" There is a loud crash from a corner of the room. They turn just as the space lights up and reveals a dark figure. A sharp object gleams in their hand. Then it's black. Tim strikes a match which is almost a dropped in his horror.

Ella lay before them in a dark pool of blood. Her face is twisted in horror and her glazed eyes stare at something in the distance. It was evident by the purple marks along her lips that she did not have the chance to scream. She had always been doomed by this fate. Tim drops to his girlfriend's side and tries to revive her, but she had died relatively quickly from the gash alone her throat. Her blood bled into his clothing as he gives her one last hug.

"Who did this. Who would do this to my sweet Ella?" He bawls into her unmoving chest.

"It looked like the hookman!" Molly says in terror. "Or somebody pretending to be him."

"They must have seen that the window was open and snuck in." You add.

Molly pulls Tim away with a hug of her own. "How about we leave this room and call the police?" Molly suggests and leads the group out of the dark cell. The three of you walk up the stairs and find yourselves in the entrance area. You are not sure why Tim calls this place a cabin. It is so ornate and fancy that it even has a chandelier hanging above you.

It is still dark, so Tim lights another match. He walks to a telephone and punches in a number. Nothing. The power is out. All of you try your cellphones, but they do not work either. Still distraught, Molly clings onto Tim's shaking arm. "It's alright Ella. We will be okay." She nods and they walk back over to you.

"You seem rather calm." Tim looks at you suspiciously.

"Somebody needs to be calm here. As long as we hide we should be okay." You reply.

"You're right. We should calm down." He sighs.

The scene stops again. Tim's watering eyes continuously stare back at you as Molly's face is buried in his jacket.

"HÜMAN! DO YOÜ SEE HOW WRONG THIS PICTÜRE IS?" Galia whispers in your ear. "ELLA IS GONE, YET TIM STILL HAS A GIRL ATTACHED TO HIS SIDE."

You are startled as a heavy fist slams on the door. Everybody screams. None of you can see a thing because the match died out. The door creaks open and an unknown being enters the "cabin". They slam the door shut making the group jump.

"I can't see! I can't see! I can't see! Where are they!" Molly begins to hyperventilate and detaches from Tim.

"You need to stay with me!" Tim whispers, but Molly is gone. Her footsteps are heard running up the stairs, but they stop for a split second.

Thump. Thump. THUMP. THUMP. THUMP!

"Molly?" You take out your phone and turn the flashlight on.

"Found her." You call Tim over, as he gasps in horror. "Well. Part of her."

Molly tried to run up the stairs, but the killer, hookman or not, had gotten to her and sliced harder at her neck than they did with Ella. Currently you were looking at Molly's body with no knowledge of the whereabouts of her head. Tim runs to the scene and trips. He takes out his phone and squeals as he flops around on the floor.

"Never mind. We found all of her." You add grimly as Tim grossly sobs. "We should put her with Ella."

"You aren't being calm!" Tim bursts. "You are being cold!"

"I don't think either of us want to stare at her dead body and decapitated head!" You shout back.

"THIS IS GETTING OÜT OF CONTROL! STOP SHOÜTING AT HIM!"

"No. You are cold and heartless." He shakes his head, but complies and takes half of Molly back to the basement. You take the lighter half and follow him silently.

"HE WILL NEVER WANT TO BE WITH YOÜ NOW, YOÜ IDIOT!" Your blood begins to boil. "HOW COÜLD YOÜ LET THIS HAPPEN?" You drop the head as your eyes widen.

Cold. Heartless.

"YOÜ DID THIS."

Now enraged like a taunted bull, you whip out the knife you had hidden beneath your coat. You slam the hilt into his skull and he tumbles down the rest of the stairs. Surprised by your sudden strength, you stare at your trembling hands and the bloody blade.

"YOÜ DID THIS."

You drag Molly and Tim into the basement and lock the door. The fire is restarted after you pulled a match from Tim's pocket. The eery silence made your skin crawl and your gaze drifted. For the first time, you notice the mirror that was hanging on the wall. Its gilded frame is beautiful and clean, but it seems out of place. It would fit anywhere else in the "cabin" except the basement where you were sitting.

"DON'T LOOK IN THE MIRROR." Galia is floating by your side. "YOÜ WOÜLD'T LIKE WHAT YOÜ'D SEE." You turn to her and give her a quizzical look.

"HÜMAN, CAN YOÜ STILL NOT SEE THE TRÜTH?" You shake your head still confused. "THIS IS YOÜR CHANCE TO MAKE THIS GO RIGHT. THERE ARE MANY OPTIONS AND PATHS TO TAKE AND I HAVE SEEN YOÜ TAKE THEM ALL."

"What do you mean! That makes no sense!"

"LOOK BEYOND THE SÜRFACE OF THESE CONCRETE WALLS. WHAT DO YOÜ SEE?" You do as she says, but all you see is an endless black abyss. "YES. THERE IS NOTHING. YOÜ ARE SÜRROÜNDED BY THE VOID."

"The void?"

She cocks her head at an awkward angle and her grin splits through her whole face. "WELCOME TO HELL, HÜMAN."

"Have you been practicing that line? I mean. What do you mean, Galia! Why am I in hell!"

"DO YOÜ REALLY THINK SOMEBODY WHO HAS KILLED THREE PEOPLE IS GOING TO HEAVEN?" She cackles.

"Three? But I've only killed Molly and Ella! You told me to!"

"I NEVER TOLD YOÜ TO KILL THEM. THAT WAS YOÜ TWISTING MY WORDS TO GET WHAT YOÜ WANT SÜBCONSCIOÜSLY. YOÜ KILLED THEM ALL AND THIS IS YOÜR PÜNISHMENT." You look away as Tim stirs. "YOÜ SPEAK OF KILLING THEM LIKE THEY ARE NOTHING, BÜT YOÜ CAN CHANGE. HERE IS YOÜR CHANCE."

Tim stands up and holds his head. Blood trickles out if the gash. "Ugh. What happened." He moaned in pain.

"You tripped while bringing Molly down here." He remembers that you are here and suddenly jumps back and points. You tilt your head and look to where his finger directs.

"IDIOT! YOÜ FORGOT TO PÜT THE KNIFE AWAY!"

"So it was you." He doesn't sound surprised, so you take down the façade. You giggle hysterically as tears stream down your cheeks.

"They were in the way."

"In the way? They were human beings and you slaughtered them like it was nothing. They were your friends!"

"They were your friends."

"My friends? Were they not your's as well?" His face is so silly when he is confused.

"They made fun of me and they got in my way.

"Of what?"

"Of you."

"Of me?"

"Yes, you."

"So you killed them?"

"You chose Ella, so I killed her. Then you chose Molly, so I killed her too. Now, it is you who are standing in my way."

Tim snorts. "How can I stand in your way to get to me?"

"You are being stubborn, Tim." You carefully step over the corpses as you edge closer to him. Your eye contact never breaks from his which darts back and forth between the knife and your face. "Let me in, Tim."

He runs to the door and frantically shakes the handle, but it does not budge. Whipping around, Tim turns to face you. You are so close now. You stand directly in front of his shaking form. Something about his new weakness turned you off. It was not the Tim you imagined.

In a last ditch effort, Tim throws a punch that does not land on its intended target. You catch his fist in your hand and swiftly pull his arm down causing him to fall in a heap on the cold floor. You kick him over and over. So many times that you lose count. You stop to catch your breath and kneel down in from of him.

He wheezes as he coughs up blood. The eyes of an innocent, wounded animal look back at you. "Please." The pathetic voice begs.

You lean over and whisper in is ear. "You are nothing to me. Now feel what it's like to watch the one you love choose another." The knife is gripped tightly in your hand as you bring it down into his chest. He does not resist. He can't. He's too weak. "It hurts doesn't it, Tim?" He whimpers and sputters as his body twitches and finally fails.

"SO THIS IS THE PATH YOÜ DECIDED TO TAKE." Galia speaks again after much silence. "DO YOÜ SEE NOW? DO YOÜ SEE WHY YOÜ HAVE BEEN CONDEMNED TO AN ETERNITY IN HELL?"

"If I'm stuck here why not have some fun?"

"THIS IS WHAT YOÜ CALL FÜN, HÜMAN?" You snicker. "YOÜR SPECIES WORRY ME."

"How can I learn my lesson if I am going to be here forever? There is no reward to being sane!" You look at the mirror. Once again, it has captured your interest. Galia notices and moves out of its way.

"YOÜ WON'T LIKE WHAT YOÜ SEE, BÜT GO AHEAD." You walk up and rake your hand across its smooth surface. Suddenly, you stand back. You do not understand its reflection. You tap on the glass. Nothing. You tap harder. Still nothing. You are punching it frantically with bloodied fists, for it cannot be true.

If is not the absence of your reflection that troubles you, but the reflection of the dead screaming in agony.

"YOU KILLED US!"

"YOU DID THIS!"

"COLD!"

"HEARTLESS!"

"SOULLESS!"

Galia is right. It tears you apart, the shadow of your heart. You can't take it! The voices drive you madder than your own.

You give up.

You fall.

Everything is black.

Everything was always black.

Galia faces the reader before the loop resets. "WHAT MAKES A MONSTER IS NOT THE CLAWS AND SHARP TEETH, BÜT THE DERANGED MIND OF A PERSISTENT HÜMAN BEING. YOÜ SEE IT TIME AFTER TIME, YET THEY NEVER STOP. WHETHER THEY KNOW OR DO NOT KNOW THAT WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS WRONG IS NOT SCARY. IT IS HORRIFYING THAT THEY WILL DO IT INDEFINITELY ÜNTIL THE END OF TIME."
