A cat wants to take it's place in the chorus!!

Cat’s Chorus.

There’s so much caterwauling going on outside this door,

I want to find a way to go and join in, that’s for sure.

My masters, they have shut me in and gone off now to bed

but the meows of my friends are really messing with my head.

I don’t want to be the only one not getting to join in

when the neighbourhood Cat’s Chorus all begin to sing.

This handle it is kinda high, but if I jump I’ll get a grip

then I can let myself fall down – the handle then will dip.

But there’s something I’m forgetting – they’ve gone and locked it with a key

and no matter that I’m clever, that’s a skill eluding me.

I’ll jump up on the window sill, they’re sitting on the wall,

I’ll make sure that they see me then I’ll head back to the hall.

If I can’t get to the garden I will just sing beside the door --

eventually they’ll kick me out when they can take no more.

And then I’ll get to take my place and sit amongst the row;

we’ll serenade the street with our great ‘Caterwauling Show’.

Ha, sound like most cat's I've known, I always wondered what was so important outside that they just couldn't wait, now I know!

Can't you just imagine it, Mike. Them all sitting in a row on the wall, howling away!!! Thanks for the read and comment.

It's all about reproduction Mama Hullabaloo! A local country school put GPS's on a number of cats that wandered through the night. The biggest area covered by one was 200 hectares. The average was 65. That's a lot of roaming and meowing!

Thanks for the read and comment, Moa. I just had this picture of my five and the infiltrators sitting on a wall and singing instead of howling and spitting at each other.

Ha, 'CATerwauling'. Might have to look at more of your cat poems, Hully - who knows more about cats and poetry than you? This was a fun read.
