Rain poured down the pane of the window endlessly when suddenly the small girl caught her reflection in the glass. She was short with pale blonde locks that, when caught in the light, glowed near white.

"Leone" her name was called by her drunken father once more as he lightly tapped her bedroom door "Daddy just wants to talk..."

She was young not naïve, she thought to herself looking back to the window. It was dark out, the sky set alight by the stars. She longed to go outside and see them herself, but with every attempt to reach for her door she welled up in fear and stopped herself.

Outside people were committing heinous acts of villainy hourly. People losing family and the bloodied faces of young ones caught in violence. Sadness and disparity, in this world that god had long since left.

“This world is plagued” her mother would say, “Diseases ravage entire villages, towns are brought to their knees and sold for pocket change to putrid pigs.” She had lost her memory of her Mothers face years ago and yet her voice remains crystal clear, as though she was lulling her to sleep one last time. A loud thump rattled the old oak floorboards. It would seem her father had finally passed out. She got up out of her chair and reached for the food bag left by her mother, only 3 more tins left….

Her eyes mimicked the window. Fear enveloped her like a blanket, smothering her. 3 tins isn’t even another day. Weeping silently, born into a world of hatred and despair. A world where even god had abandoned his foolish creations. She wished for difference, wishing for man to have the power to change themselves. For man to no longer be a slave to fate but instead a partner to it.

She heard a scream from outside, not an unusual sound for such times but this one caught her ear in an interesting way. She crawled over to the window and bore witness to horror beyond her known world. The ground was cracking and tearing, beams of divine light burst out from between them, utterly destroying those caught in its terrible glaze. Leone tried but her eyelids wouldn’t shut as the world she had observed through the window of her confinement was raptured and burned into nothingness. The places which these unholy rays of lights struck lost their very existence and became an inky void. Her room, her safe haven began to shake violently. The old brick walls ripped away and lost to the grim darkness. Her toys and sentimental items whipped out of reach, leaving only the lantern left at her feet. Finally the floor boards began to disintegrate away, stripping away Leones’ last feeling of safety.

Blackness, as far as the eye could see. She struggled to fully comprehend the circumstances she was in, this confusion was the only thing that distracted her from the fear she felt swelling within her chest. A voice boomed from the darkness.

“Do you wish to change this world?” Leone’s fear left her in an instant. In its place an unnatural warmth. She replied with a nod.

“A world where the creations of god’s may think and empower themselves?” Leone nodded once more. She tried to see through the jet black veil this voice was originating from but to no real success.

Suddenly a shape appeared within her sight. It’s flesh thin and pulsating, leaking a sort of grotesque fluid. Its maw was as large as the room she previously stood in with teeth like shattered glass. Long tendrils protruded out of the base of the creature, moving gently as it moved towards Leone.

“Then you shall see what your ideals bring.” The creature opened its jaw, out exploded a vile blue gel which arced and whipped towards the human girl. She attempted to scream but no sound escaped her mouth. The gel entered her agape orifice and into her body. She shuddered and twitched, whilst the light in her assaulters’ eyes began to fade. The liquid ceased from the monster and finally stopped entering into the girls’ mouth. She felt it crawling inside of her, escaping her stomach and entering her bloodstream. She sat in horror of what she had experienced and looked down towards the being whom had performed such an act. But it did not move nor pulsate as it once did.

Leone was alone. True solitariness in a vast empty universe. No lights from a star and no touch of another. She attempted to weep but the tears crystallised and grew tails. She grit her teeth in frustration, the shards taking form and becoming planets. Her grip had drew blood but it was clear and holy, landing on the planets creating vast oceans and rivers. She poked her head up and noticed such creation. And thus the age of Leone was crowned for the universe.
