How one feels after trying so hard but not getting anywhere in a relationship. How one feels being mentally destroyed by a one-sided relationship.

It rained ice.

Leaving me out in the in cold.

The wind was a blizzard.

You were the lighthouse.

The only thing keeping me going.

The hope of something better.

But You left me alone.

Turned off the light.

Put out the fire.

I was consumed, assuming it was my fault.

I blamed myself. I tried to get over You.

But You always appear. In my thoughts and dreams.

Relighting the fire,

Only for it to die out again.

Only for me to go on blaming myself.

You called me friend but barely respond.

You ask for help and like a light I’m there.

But after You get what you came for you leave

I was going to give you my world,

But you already had it in the palm of your hand.

I was at you beckoning call.

But you held no love,

You played with the emotions remaining,

To keep me trapped in your web.

It seemed like spring when I was in your company

But it was just a backdrop to cover up the sounds of winter snow.

Leaving nothing but mental scars on my mind.
