Devoid of inspiration, I took a long hiatus from writing. Using this time I read the complete works of William Shakespeare. His sonnet work has inspired me and following is my first attempt at a Shakespearean sonnet.

If ever a creature might convince me,

Of creationism or omnipotence.

Inherently imperfect she would be;

Perfection casts doubt on it's existence.

Youthful beauty lights a face unwrinkled,

Her smile lopsided by one crooked tooth.

Complexion rich, unmarred, softly dimpled;

Pure of heart and kind though slightly uncouth.

But a learned man with proper schooling,

Argued passionately that these are not;

The handiwork of a higher being,

But perfect imperfections love forgot.

The subjective nature of perfection,

Thus allows a perfect imperfection.
