Crossroads.

I’m standing at the junction -- which way now, left or right?

I’m gonna have to pick one so I won’t put up a fight,

I’m heading down the road that is leading to the left

hoping the decision won’t just make me feel bereft.

It seems I’ve read the signs wrong, that I’ve made a big mistake,

that I’ve been led on a wild goose-chase by one who was a fake.

I’m hurtling on a course that can only bring about collision

and I really haven’t had a chance to make even slight revision,

for the direction that I’m going in is going to have me beat

as I’m travelling the wrong way on a single one-way street.

The warnings must have been so clear but by me they were ignored;

fate now must be laughing at the home-run that it’s scored.

A fool, I have been taken for – yeah, I’ve been tricked and cheated,

I cannot really tell yet if my heart has been defeated.

If I make it to the end perhaps I’ll turn myself around

and struggle on and make my way to some slightly safer ground.

Be careful what you wish for, you’ll never know what’s true;

just keep your head and hope that the deceit won’t target you.
