I came up with this poem one year while cleaning up the wrapping paper. The kids are always so happy to open the presents, but cleaning up the mess is a totally different story. I hope you can relate to this one.

A Comical Look At Christmas

Early Christmas morning, the kids all bright eyed see

all of those beautiful presents, under the Christmas tree.

Then happiness and laughter bring on a tearful joy

after the discovery of that very special toy.

A train, a doll, a set of blocks all come into their view.

Sometimes if you are lucky, you’ll hear an “I love you.”

Opening up your present to find those special socks.

You work to find the words and say, “This present really rocks.”

While they play with all their stuff, you look across the house.

You ask for help to clean it up. They’re quiet as a mouse.

Until they turn on all the toys, or beat the drums so loud.

It doesn’t really matter, of them you still feel proud.

So don’t forget this special day we’ve all looked forward to.

Next year we’ll do it all again. Merry Christmas to all of you!
