A poem I wrote back in April. Something authentic.

My sweetest gem,

my treasure, indeed,

Can you comprehend

what you mean to me?

Please never let me fall

because I hope you understand,

that I have given you my all

at least all that I am.

it has been a struggle, it has been surreal,

all that I've been through and all that I feel.

Unwritten pages in an unfinished book,

pieces of me missing, pieces you took.

Projects on hold, and dreams on my mind,

a future untold and a battle with time.

Fears arising in the back of my head,

was it something I did?

Or was it something you said?

In the past fourteen months, believe me, I've grown,

it's a product of being all on my own.

I am not broken inside anymore,

I've picked up most pieces left on the floor.

I healed, I recovered, and today I still stand,

waiting for you to be proud of the person I am.

And all this I've done for you, 'Summer night',

you can't ever say that I didn't fight.

But there's still one more thing I really must do,

I need to stop being afraid of you.
