I was chuffed with my first poem

It was gritty sarcastic and dark

With pride I showed it to my dad

He said it's hardly John Cooper Clarke.

I wanted to write great verse

I wanted to leave my mark

So I wrote another poem for him

He said it's hardly John Cooper Clarke.

I scribbled poem after poem

Could I write a winner

By poking fun at things

From Starbucks to Christmas dinner?

He said it's hardly John Cooper Clarke

And shot me down flat

No it bloody isn't, I snapped

It's an original Chris Platt.
