A cave full of diamonds

Take me to a cave full of diamonds
a cave smelling of moist mud after a rain
of brown dirt, waving in creats and troughs
all around me, a tunnelling mane
with grey stones popping and peeking from the expected places
with simple faces, of humble observance and soft effervence
bumping their shadows above and into the mud which
occassionally unleashes a little of its dirt, dropping it
over the shadows, in an attepmt to cover the stone eyes or
to play with itself ,we'd never know.

You would be there, so would I, in your smile
I'd find my stomach, and in your heat, i'd find my skin
and in your eyes, i'd find a home, and in your breath, i'd find
my air. You would sit on my lap, arms clasped close to makes hands meet
and in your neck i'd find the other half of my face.

Of your happy, bursting, clapping laugh
echoes would be forever resounding in the cave
here and in my ears, of your reassuring breaths, of your arms which
sigh trying to reach, yet shy, turn downwards, in vain to please a body
which loves with so much, my eyes are no better than stones in discerning.

It would take eternity to create a diamond such as you
darkness about for millenia, yet surviving with this light
trapped inside you.Your millions of surfaces, face me now, yet
my eyes, stones as they are, see only one. Your smile
hiding behind the coals, are not visible to me, yet all i'd want to be
is a softer and smoother surface than all this cave for you to lie and sleep on.

and with you, i'd have my diamond on me
without any need to remember that the stones i saw
were diamonds as well.
