  • Stella gloomily sat at church staring at the ground holding back tears at her grandfathers funeral. Everywhere she looked there were no smiles, only tears. Stella had expected this day to be rainy and gloomy just like the atmosphere, but instead it was sunny and birds were chirping happy melodies. She wanted to shoot the birds to shut them up, even though she was normally a really happy person.
  •
  • Her mind went back to the memories she had of her grandfather, a really long time ago... Her grandfather had always had the reputation of a crazy person since he always told stories about fairies, elf's and other magical creatures who he said lived in their world "and only those smart enough, can see them" he used to say. Everyone thought he did it for the benefit of Stella when she was a kid, but then she grew up to a teenager and when he kept telling those stories, saying they were true, everyone just thought he was crazy.
  •
  • She always believed everything her grandfather told her as a kid, but as she grew up, she realised he was only messing with her .
  • Now there she was, at his funeral. She couldn't take it anymore and started sobbing. A few people stared, but she tried to ignore them while she tried to stop sobbing. Finally, after a really long time, the funeral was over.

  • Stella laid on her bed with her grandfather's glasses on her hands wondering why in the world would her grandfather wanted her to have his glasses. Everyone else had gotten money, and really valuable things, even her little brother, and she got his glasses. She tried to figure out why would he do that to her, and why he didn't give her anything more valuable, but she couldn't seem to find a reason.
  •
  • She sighed putting the old round glasses down. Just as she put them down she heard a knock on the door, and before she could respond, the door opened. "Hey, Stella, what did grandpa leave for you?" her younger 8 year old brother, Jason asked. She started getting up. "That is none of your b-" he cut her off "Hey, since when do you have glasses?" he scrunched his nose while she hid the glasses under the covers. "Are those grandpa's glasses?" he paused "is that what he left you?" she stood up and walked angrily over to him. "Get.out" she said in a threatening way pointing out the door.
  •
  • "Fine, so much for being nice to my overdramatic dorky sister" he mumbled quickly and locked himself in his room before she could go chasing after him. She groaned and slammed the door shut as she grabbed the glasses again. "Why, grandpa?" she groaned and put the glasses on her desk. At least she had something that reminded her of him.
  •
  • BEEP BEEP BEEP Stella slammed her clock and cursed under her breath while she tried to open her eyes to a new horrible day at school. She had missed a week of school because of her grandpa's death, so she was sure there were gonna be questions. She groaned at the thought of having to get out of bed. just five more minutes she thought. five more... before she could finish that thought, she was already snoring back to sleep.
  • "Stella!"  stella jumped back awake to find her mother at her face yelling. "You are late for school!"
  •
  • Stella jumped out of bed suddenly really awake. "School starts in 15 minutes! And no, I am not giving you a ride!" with that said, she slammed the door behind her, leaving Stella panicking with ten minutes to get ready. Exactly ten minutes later, she was rushing down the stairs with her backpack hanging. She run to the kitchen, shoved a cookie on her mouth, and grabbed her shoes on her way out.
  •
  • She rushed into class with papers falling out of her binder, though she ignored that. The second she rushed into class, all eyes turned to her like if she was a magnet, she could tell she had interrupted the class. "Sorry I'm late" she mumbled quietly, and quickly sat down on her seat on the front of the class, which she hated. "Stella, you're back" Mrs.Potter said, not taking her eyes off her. Mrs.potter was an eighth grade science teacher, she was an old lady with grey hair always wore in a bun, round glasses, and she hated Stella, though she didn't know why. "I hope you had a nice and unnecessary break from your education" she said looking annoyed. Stella was going to correct her and tell her that her grandpa died, but she decided not to, since she was to tired to explain. "Yes, it was great" she responded opening her binder, hoping everyone had stopped staring at her. There was a brief silence before Mrs.Potter got on with her lesson again.
  •
  • Stella let out a silent sigh of relief she didn't have to get a tardy slip and sinked in her chair not paying attention at all at what the teacher was saying. About thirty minutes passed when she felt something light hit the back of her head and she turned around to find Ashley at the back of the class, her best friend, smiling hudgely with her big gigantic smile, and her long curly blonde hair bobbing up and down, pointing to a crumpled up post it she had just thrown at her. She grabbed it from the floor when the teacher wasn't looking, un crumpled it, and read it.

I heard about your grandpa, sorry ):

  • Btw, Mrs.P is a witch

And next to it was a doodle of a hideous witch that looked like Mrs.Potter. Stella had to cover her mouth to keep herself from laughing hysterically at the hilarious doodle Ashley drew. She grabbed a pen and she drew her own drawing of a monster part witch, part goblin, part ogre and part Mrs.Potter on it. She glanced backwards quickly, turned around and when the teacher wasn't looking, she tossed it backwards hoping it got to her. Before she could turn around to see if she had gotten it, she heard a really loud snort -that she would recognise anywhere- from the back of the class. Everyone turned around to see where that snort came from and all eyes turned to Ashley who was covering her mouth while she silently laughed hysterically.

Stella cringed while Mrs.Potter made her way to the back of the class. "Ashley" she barked. Ashley became dead serious when she noticed Mrs.Potter was coming towards her. "May I know what is so funny?" she demanded as she came to a stop in front of her. Ashley discretely hid the note on her pocket and acted natural. "Oh nothing, I was just thinking of a joke" she insisted, but she wasn't buying any of it. Mrs.Potter narrowed her eyes at her, with a look that said I will hunt you down . There was silence for a second, but then the post it on her pocket fell onto the floor, and she noticed. Stella stared at the post it praying the teacher will just ignore it. Ashley was still in the same calm position trying to act as if she didn't notice the post it so maybe the teacher could ignore it, but Mrs.Potter eyed Ashley and then the note. She walked towards it and leaned down to get it, while Stella crossed her fingers praying something will happen.

Just as she was about to grab it, the bell rung, and in the blink of an eye everyone stood up and rushed towards the exit, which was fortunately where Mrs.potter was standing, so she had to get back up to not lose balance through the mob of students. Before she could get back down to grab the note, Ashley had already kicked it out of sight while she walked out before the teacher could stop her.

"That was close" Ashley told Stella at lunch, which was unfortunately the only time of the day apart from science that they had together. "We were so lucky, imagine what would have happened if she had seen it." Stella shuddered at the thought of it. "We would have probably had just gotten detention" stella replied taking a bite of her sandwich.

Ashley chuckled. "Yeah, right, she would have probably convinced the principal to get us suspended" she doubted it. So far her week wasn't going well at all, she was late to class, she had almost gotten detention, and she had so much things to catch up to in class...  A long time went by while they talked about everything and laughed some more at the doodles of Mrs.potter, when finally, Ashley remembered. "Oh my gosh, I forgot about your grandpa, are you ok?" she asked her but before stella could answer, the bell rang. Saved by the bell she thought. Again.
