Scrolling through a list,
looking for relief.
How far have I fallen...

It's not what you think,
it's pain in my chest
that can't go with just some rest.

Is it you, the lucky one today?
Is talking to you, what will make me feel okay?

Despite what I say,
I know all too well
I should not grab
the closest drab

to staunch the flow...
to turn their back.

But it's when they turn...
what I aim is be a friend
but irony makes a leper of me!
Taking only, and giving nothing.

So that's why at this moment I stay my hand,
no longer outstretched far, towards you... my friend,
but instead I dip the feather in the wound,
trusting you
because you are my future.
