The Mountains Are Calling is a first person narrative about muddling through questions about life, work, and love. The narrator, only known as Zois, sets herself on a month long sojourn in the
Ozark Mountains in search of a sense of peace and balance in a life that feels like it is out of control. Through a series of chance happenings and candid conversations, she finds awareness and
comes to the realization that life is a series of choices, some easy, some hard, and happiness is sometimes found in letting go.

Author's Note: This is only the abridged first chapter of the novella. The full version has been published under the pen name, Kate Cavett.
