There are fantasies derived from woodland Fairies

Not much different than the ones that Pixies tell;

They gently blend the world of romantic fiction

With a touch of Leprechaun --- as well.

But this one has no long-haired lovely maiden

And there is no Gallant Knight upon a Steed;

You shall not hear of Unicorns in misty forests

For this story seems to sprout from darker seed.

***

 There is a Troll that hides beneath a bridge

Waiting for a victim to come along.

The Troll hasn't eaten in many days

And to him the lack of nourishment is wrong.

He waits and listens for something crossing over;

A horse, a sheep, a goat, or a cow.

He is hungry and his patience has grown short

So he would eat almost anything, --- and how.

Then along came Mother-Badger seeking food

And as she crossed the bridge she heard twigs crunch.

The Troll tried to sneak-up and surprise her.

Now Baby-Badgers are having Troll for lunch.
