The Last Voyage

It was April 10, 1912, a cool Wednesday morning as my butler unloaded our car with our belongings, to go on the Titanic. We walked towards the big vessel in high spirits, it was after all the first voyage of the Titanic, as we got onto the big ship bell boys began to take my belongings and told me they were going to put them in my room. My husband and I walked around the big ship and as we were walking we came across a beautiful set of stairs, ¨ that there is the grand staircase only first and second class can use it”, I jumped with fright as I looked behind me, I saw it was an older man who I don’t know, “ I’m the captin of the beautiful ship, my name is Edward J. Smith as I said the captain of this ship.” I looked him up and down for a brief moment and realized he was wearing a captain's uniform. “Hello my name is Anne and this is my husband Mark.” Mark gave him a slight nod, and walked away. I look at captain Smith and bid my goodbyes.

It’s April 14, 1912, it has been four days since my husband and I boarded the Titanic. I have enjoyed being here on this glorious ship, walking around, swimming, and walking up and down the grand staircase. It is now nearing 9:00 pm and it is getting very chilly as we had just entered the Atlantic ocean, my husband and I are walking around on the deck and I notice a couple standing at the bow the boy is holding the girl around her waist and she is extending her arms as if she was flying. I smiled as I watched the couple, thinking about how Mark and I used to be that way, falling in love all over again everyday, but my thoughts were interrupted when Mark spoke, “darling I am going to go back to our room and get ready for bed are you going to join me?” “no darling I am going to stay out here for a little while longer.” He nodded and walked away as I looked at the stars, as i’m looking at the stars I notice people up in the crow's nest franticly looking around, I hear a bell ringing.

It is about one in the morning and everyone is running around screaming trying to get on a lifeboat, but I am looking for my husband he is a very heavy sleeper so I doubt he is awake. I burst into our room I notice he is still asleep and I run over to him and shake him awake, “Mark, Mark wake up the ship has hit an iceberg, Mark WAKE UP” I yell frantically, as he is stirring awake I throw a lifejacket at him and make him put it on “ Anne darling, what is going on it is two in the morning,” he questions. I pull on his hand and make him get up. We exit our room and go to the deck to see if there are any lifeboats. I look in horror to see all of the lifeboats gone and people jumping off of the boat to try and get in a lifeboat. It is no use the water is too cold to swim in, it is nearing two twenty am, April 15, 1912. The ship has broken in half I am clinging onto my husband and cry as he kisses me. I feel cold, still holding onto Mark, I feel myself sink, not trying to stay above the water and neither is Mark, I kiss him one last time as we sink further and further down into the Atlantic ocean, as I embrace him, I see Mark close his eyes one last time forever before mine do the same.
