Like Vultures

You are sitting there watching,

prepared now to wait;

your eyes are so cold

and so full of hate.

You want me to stumble,

you want me to fall,

you want me to have to

give up on it all.

You relish my failure,

want me to crawl,

someone who is nothing

with worth that is small.

Weakness, you cherish,

you’re wanting the scraps,

picking my bones --

your ambition, perhaps.

You are waiting like vultures

for my demise,

but I still carry on.

Now there’s a surprise!
