"Raven?" I asked with weariness slipping out my voice. "How far under the Ice is this facility supposed to be?"
"Approximately 3211 feet sir" She meets my gaze, giving him a quick smile as she pulls her black hair into a bun. I groan in irritation, hitting the back of my head against the door of the truck. Ericka and Raven glance at each other and they both shake their heads and smile.

Raven and Ericka were my most trusted subordinates, twins I had found abandoned a while back. I'm assuming their parents were killed in the blood war but they never speak about it and I never pressed them about it. I still remember stumbling upon the two dirt faced covered girls in the alley near my favorite bar. The blood was heavy in the air, and as the clouds passed over the moonlight showed their victims face twisted in shock, horror, and surprise. I think they rather enjoyed playing with their victims. Ericka was the first to notice my presence and bow, Raven, on the other hand, backed away from me, before Ericka grabbed her hand and they disappeared into the night, But that wasn't the last I would see of them.

As the world lay in ruin around us the last of us were scrambling to find a cure for the vampire killing epidemic that swept across the globe shortly after the death of the last human. The earth's lands no longer inhabitable we moved to the skies, with our goal to be space if we don't find a cure soon. We had been searching their facilities for years until we decrypted the information for this one. Raven being my genius was my ace in the hole and I was determined to bring salvation to our species.

"Do you really think the facility will be here?" Raven asked

"Well according to you information it should be. It was listed as one of the most secure facilities they ever built. We only managed to get the data on it because you were able to crack china's defenses. But according to the document all the nations government's had a hand in its development, But not even the president of the U.S had knowledge of it. It better be here..." Ericka trailed off

Well, I for one hope its here, this trip has been cold and I am tired, no! Exhausted, I just want to hopefully find anything useful and make my way back to my warm home. I breathed out

The truck moved on and in silence, we sat for what seemed to drag on for an eternity.
"Guys put your helmets on" I stated.
"Why? We're in the car." Raven and Ericka said in unison.
"Just a hunch," I said. And the clicking of helmets filled the empty noise between us as breathing support systems stabilized in the helmets.
"Do you think we will ever be able to live on ground level again?" Raven asked while watching the scenery go past us.
"I hope so," I said
"Hey look polar..." Ravens voice trailed off as loud cracking sounds filled the air.
We couldn't move fast enough, the ground began to crack and crumble.
"Brace yourselves!" I yelled and the truck skidded to a bumpy stop. Raven and Ericka let time pass before one on them started to giggle. And then the ground gave way and seemed to shatter beneath us and before we knew it the truck was in freefall.

I woke up to the sound of my watch beeping from the hour mark I had set. The truck was laying on its side, and visibly no one was hurt. Raven was unconscious and Ericka was trying to get her seat belt undone.
"Are we all alright?" I asked and Ericka's head snapped up at me, not even realizing I had regained consciousness.
"It would seem so sir, Raven wake up!" she said as she head butted her.
I undid my seatbelt and slid out the broken window of the truck listening to the girl's bicker behind me I looked around at our frozen surroundings.
" Least we don't have to find the entrance anymore", I said staring at the Chinese letters on the building and the world unity sign on the door. I looked up And you could barely see the sky through the cracked ice making it hard to tell if it was day or night.
"Come on girls let's get started"We proceed inside the building and make our way towards what we believe to be the main lab based on the blueprint of the base we managed to get. The facility was unlike any place we had broken into so far, not resembling a typical science lab. To get in first off you needed a series of cryptic passwords that randomized out each day. We had no way to get access to those codes since they were uploaded directly into the heads of the scientist using wireless brain modification technology and since all the humans are dead we had no way of finding the scientist, even if we could we would still need a name and that was kept out of all known documents about the place. Nothing not even a letter with his name on it, he was strictly mentioned as "him, or he". We had just finished laser cutting our way through the door and Raven once inside disabled the security system. The place looked completely untouched, by time or anything else. It was sparkly clean and resembled the makeup of a regular human home. The blueprint only listed a total of 4 rooms, a main living area that consisted of a living room, a kitchen and a dining room, two separate rooms off to the side as a bathroom and a bedroom. and then further below a basement which we believed was the science facility.

"I don't know sir, the place seems more like a home than anything else do you think our information was jeopardized?" Ericka questioned while opening and closing the fridge. Taking note of the food that seemed to still be fine.

"Compromised yet they sent us out to the middle of nowhere, where we just happened to fall upon the science facility," I said while checking the bedroom.

"Well, it is weird that the place still has power, and it was so easy to disable the security system, almost as if they weren't even worried about people getting in" Raven speculated.

"Well, be fair they did build it under 3,000 feet of ice or did the fall make you forget that convenient part?" I said clearly getting irritated. Raven and Ericka just looked away regretting their forward comments. "They didn't think anyone would find it, let alone get in. Stupid humans never covering their tracks like always" I scoffed to myself as I find the door leading to the basement.

We proceed forward quietly and carefully. but still while irritating, they were irritatingly correct. The place still had power, It was 3,000 feet under the ice, and I have a feeling if the floor wouldn't have given way we wouldn't have ever found the entrance to this place if there even is one. We come to the door at the end of the stairs and begin laser cutting our way through. Once inside I wasn't prepared for what I saw. The lights shut off, a single red light cut through the dark before my eyes could adjust. I felt the air move past me and before I could react something grabbed me and tossed me to the ground knocking the air out of me that I didn't even know I had. The lights cut back on and I'm lying there staring up at a figure laying on a suspended platform above me. Raven and Ericka have knives pinning them to the wall, and the person is just staring down at me. "Your right, there is a reason it was so easy to get it" her voice rang out. "Because getting out is the hard part"
