They say that words cut deep

And the pen is mightier than the sword

Be careful what you write and say

Chose wisely each word.

Words are a powerful thing

Together they can curse

They can praise, insult or offend

They make fantastic verse.

Words can also heal

To mark occasions words are said

At weddings there are speeches

And when burying the dead.

Words can change minds and move mountains

With prayer, poem and spell

Words and ideas can change the world

With the stories that they tell.

Think of all the great literature

Books that many still hold dear

The words and stories live on

Even after all these years.

The great and modern classics

Show the power of the written word

That can change opinion and society

And can kill a mockingbird.

Words aren’t just in fiction

More than tales to pass the time

With the right turn of phrase

You can propose or you can resign.

If you chose the perfect word

I’m sure that you will find

The truth in what I’m saying

The right word can blow your mind.
