The stars were freckles on the face of the sky,
Accenting the moon, accenting her eyes.
The shine of her skin melted shadows of mine,
And then she said goodbye.

The sun was her ally in the game of heat,
Kissing her shape, with a touch so discreet.
The fear of her ghost became newly petite,
And then she said goodbye.

Why is it, that all my grays,
Must come on such beautiful days?
Why is it, that all my frights,
Must haunt me on such starry nights?
