Which way should I go?

Oh, what should I do?

How should I even begin?

Such questions that I find myself now asking,

Once I could have never believed.

There is no place for me!

Nowhere that I see

For me to even begin making a life.

A pretty wife at home,

Two kids to feed,

But where is my place to be?

I went to their schools,

I sang their petty songs,

I learned their golden rule;

But they only filled me with their lies,

Stole my money

And played me for a fool.

They promised me the world,

On a yellow bricked road,

Leading to a new golden utopia;

But all that I have received are new yet pathetic shoes,

A foreign made high priced  model of sorry car,

And a job that hires me on the cheap by the day.

Which way do I go?

What should I do,

In a land where no opportunity is to be found;

Oh such a discouraging experience indeed,

Especially when all it is that I hear around

Is that I live in a land of prosperity.

First they offshore the production base,

Then they bring in highly skilled foreign labor for cheap,

Now computers and robots are taking their place,

But how the hell am I to pay my keep?

I seek to ply my trade off the books for cash anyway,

then they threaten to throw me in a dungeon so deep,

And this in the land of opportunity.
