Self Explanatory.

I cannot eat the Hummingbird Pie

The aroma is sweet but brings tears to my eyes

Chickens have color and yet do not cause

This hesitant fork these reticent jaws

Chickens baked neatly with carrots and peas

Can't drop me as hummingbirds do to my knees

Begging "forgive this unspeakable transgression"

No doubt soon ending in well earned depression

I stare at the crust and can't help but wonder

How promising day turned to such moral blunder

I was hungry its true but my God was there nothing

else flying around I could use as pie stuffing

Though true no laws written discourage my baking

It's certain! It's infamy! of which I 'm partaking

With this shiny green red throated pie I've been baking

Its God! Its Country! Its my soul! I'm forsaking
