A non denominational funeral reading. A term penned by Schopenhauer in "Studies in Pessimism" I found his description of afterlife or "Palingenesis" oddly eternity affirming for a self described Aetheist. This poem was inspired by the reading that part of the book.

Palingenesis

10/04

In my death I drift light as wind through green pine bough shadows

I am the light that sparkles the needles

I emerge from restless existence

coming out once again to play

I whisper for my comrades

who come smiling into the wood near the sunshine rock

to tell of the adventures complete

after stories all told disperse like sweet smelling smoke into high air of night

we all hold hands and imagine the play of life anew

when past arenas fade their lights and old love spent curls like autumn leaf

we are beckoned….

"come with us come with us again...

Dream a new dream"
