Some enjoy tip-toing through the wild flowers and soft grasses where tall trees hold sway.  Not me.  Dreams of the sea plague me until the final school bell.  My parents take me to the beach house for the summer.  Yay!  Can’t wait!

The beach beckons when we arrive.  Running through the sand, I lose my flip-flops!  I don’t care.  Mmmm, the air tastes of salt.  Familiar white foam splashes at the pointy rocks near the shoreline.  Above the unobstructed yellow ball burns its kisses along my skin exposed by my favorite red sundress.  Even on the hottest of days like today so pristine and blue, the cool ocean breeze fanning through my dark locks feels invigorating… refreshing.

An only child, I walk my own aimless path.  Some at school whisper how strange I am.  So what?!  I stand sentry to the water nymphs as only I may.  No one but me can see them, of course.  They long for home and have lost their way.

Oh, what fun we have leaping from rock to rock.  No touching the ground!  I giggle with delight, balancing carefully, oblivious to the world!  Mine’s better.  There’s only me, my invisible friends, and the sea…
