She always loved coming to the sea. It helped her relax and clear her head. Something about the gentle breezes and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore just made her feel at home. It felt better here than her actual home. She felt her bare feet on the rocks, and began to frown. She was reminded that she had no shoes to wear. She didn’t have the money.

The ocean tried to comfort by gently holding her. Unfortunately, for the girl, this got her face drenched with sea spray. The girl let out a sigh and wiped off her face. She smiled. It seemed as though the ocean knew when she was in pain, and tried to comfort her. Most of the time, that ended with sea spray to the face, but she was happy for the attempt. There was still something in this world that tried to what was right, and not what was easy, even if it was just an ocean.

It’s amazing how much an inanimate object can help you feel better. Even if the world has gone to hell, you can be around something with no life, and have it enhance your own.
