Not Good Enough

Excuse me! I’m sorry to interrupt but it’s rather urgent.”

Well, it had better be. I left strict instructions that this meeting was not to be disturbed for anything.”

I know you did, and I’m sorry, but you are about to have a visit.”

A visit! No! Absolutely no interruptions. You’ll just have to send them away.”

You don’t understand. This is a V.I.P.”

I don’t care who they are. They can make an appointment just the same as anyone else would.”

No.....No, they can’t. This isn’t any V.I.P. but THE V.I.P.! You can’t say no to him.”

You mean........”

Exactly. And he’s going to be up here any second!”

Right, everybody. Back to work, and make sure you look busy. No gawping at the visitor either. James, you stay! We know what this meeting is about and I’m afraid I’m not going to take the blame for what was your decision.”

But.....”

The man enters the meeting room. He is preceded and followed by men in black suits and dark glasses. They position themselves around him when he comes to a stop.

This is not good enough! You dropped my son’s sportswear range for no other reason than to get back at me.”

Good morning, Sir. But that is simply not true. It was a business decision based solely on sales figures.”

Garbage!”

But it’s true. James here has all the figures available for you to look at yourself.”

Well, James can take his figures and do what ever he wants with them. But YOU! You will give my son’s range the most prominent position inside your stores.....Each and every one of them.”

But.....”

Did I say you could talk? I did not!”

But.....”

Don’t interrupt. I’ve not finished telling you what you are going to do. You will launch a high profile advertising campaign; TV, newspapers, magazines and internet.”

But Sir....”

Shut up! Widest possible exposure. He is your poster child. This range is now your flagship one. Your whole reputation rests with this range and this range alone. DO YOU UNDERSTAND.”

Yes, Sir!”

Good! And one last thing before I leave. James, you’re fired.”

But.....”

No buts......I’ve said it. Just you see that it’s done!”

Yes, Sir.”
