Her sun bleached hair blew in the spring wind, the thunderous sound of water crashing against rock filled her ears, the salt from the almighty sea filling her senses.  Charlene could feel the adrenaline coursing through her veins as she approached the coral cliff face.

“Now, now he’ll remember forever, now he’ll truly remember the loss and pain he has caused us both.” She whispered to the infant she held close to her bosom; this child, this gift from him, this living creature who made her feel complete.

He had taken that from her, when he left; every piece of faith and hope; the life they had built together as they had stared at the stars.  Her mind committed in every way as his words unraveled a life of possibility.  She had committed truly in that moment.

Then the time came; the second order effect of laying together that night, a night she still remembered as the professed with every bit of his being his undying love for her.

But now she knew the truth, he was already with family; but he cried as she threatened to take their son away.  This was Charlene’s vengeance, her moment, her truth.
