“Annabeth, pass the butter please,” he said to her in a gentle, somber voice.

“Here my dear,” she replied.

She slowly passed the butter to her husband as he graciously accepted her little gift. He wrapped his huge, warm hands around her soft, smooth ones. The looks that they passed to one another expressed a feeling of mutual agreement of emotions from love to admiration. A few flickers here and there, then suddenly a shroud of black.

“Oh, the lights,” she looked around in amusement.

“I’ll fix them. Just stay there,” he said as he brushed his sleek, black hair back.

“Are you sure? I can hold a flashlight for you or something if-”

“It’s fine,” he said with a gentle, loving smile.

The smell of sweet lavender and rosemary lingered in the air. The taste of the smooth, salty buttered toast was still in his mouth. He unscrewed the bulb and looked deeply at the reflection. Reflected was a young, long face with small eyes, a rigid nose, pink lips, and glossy gray eyes. He admired it for some time, long enough for his love to notice.

“Are you all right?” She asked him.

He looked back at her. Strands of her long, maple-colored hair fluttered in her face. She tilted her head like a little squirrel in wonder. Her bright green eyes glistened as she stared at him waiting for his reply. He wanted to tear up. He was so thankful. So thankful for the little fairy who blessed him with such happiness. His love made him want to scream to the world in wonder of the spectacle that said she wished to stay with him forever. His love grasped his poor heart and held him ever so tightly. It tingles, he thought. He placed the bulb in place and sat back with her.

“My dear, have you thought about it yet?” he asked while admiring her heart shaped face.

“I have. And I’m still not sure.”

“Please my dear. Say yes. Make me the happiest man alive.”

“I’m still not sure. Let me think about it-”

“Please my darling. I’ll give up my entire company. My entire family. My wife. My children.”

He got on his knees, feeling the cold and rough floor made him shiver a bit. He looked at her with a face that looked as if he were just sentenced to eternal punishment. The small streams ran down his face. He grabbed her small, lovely hands.

“Do you promise to love me and only me?”

“Of course!”

“Then I will. I will be with you so as long as you give everything to me.”

“Of course! Of course! Take my everything! All of it!” he exclaimed as his body shook crazily.

The two embraced one another and held each other as closely as possible. The warmth of their bodies made them one. He had forsaken everything for this love. And for this love he would throw everything away a hundred times over. His love whether it was foolish or not meant nothing to her. She only knew that she loved him and embraced him throughout the night. Forever and ever they lived together, all to the very end.
