Yesterday

Yesterday the trees walked back

to the ocean to find their tears

that sank in the back of

the eyes of an ocean.

They released the glass waters

that rest on the gray sins of a

bald eagle’s left lung.

They fought with the sands

that surrender to the glass waters

leaving them to pay for their own

whispers to the sun.

And their ashes swept the

shadows that rest on the

pinnacle of light.
