Today was a huge day in the Simpson house. Their nineteen year old son Devon was coming home from college for Thanksgiving break. Which meant they would get to spend a few weeks with him. They haven't seen him since Easter which seemed like so long ago. And their daughter Lacey was celebrating her thirteenth birthday. She was becoming such a little lady already. They couldn't be prouder of her. She was maintaining high grades and if she kept this up, she would well be on her way to Valedictorian in High School.
The Simpsons kissed their daughter on the head. "We'll be home honey after we get your brother from the bus station. We also have to stop and get birthday supplies for your party tonight. We love you." Walking out, Lacey closed the door behind them. She wasn't upset, she knew someone had to go get the stuff. She couldn't very well do that on her own. Beside that, although today was her birthday, it was also the first day of her second ever period. She wasn't really looking forward to going anywhere. At least it was going to be family tonight, she couldn't face anyone else. She wasn't in the mood.
Padding around the house, Lacey grabbed the remote and plopped onto the couch. She was still in her pajamas, but as soon as her mom called to let her know they were on their way back she would get dressed. Switching on the television, she went to TV Guide to see what was on. There was a marathon of old horror movies running, so she decided to put that on. It was great to watch the old classics and see just silly they really were. To think that people used to be afraid of these movies. It's kind of comical.
Lacey was so engrossed in her movies that she was startled an hour and a half later when the house phone rang. Lacey drug herself up from the couch to grab the receiver. "Simpson residence, how can I  help you?'
"Lacey it's your mother. We picked up Devon and his friend and went to the store. We'll be home in another half hour. Can you make sure there is an extra blanket and clean sheets on Devs trundle bed?"
Crap. Devon was bringing someone home. That was just great. She already felt miserable enough without having to deal with his idiot friend too. "Yes mother. As soon as we get off here."
"Alright sweetie. As soon as they get done with your cake we'll be right home. Love you Lacey."
"Love you too mom. Bye."
Slamming down the receiver, Lacey shut off the TV. and headed up to her brother's room to check the bed. Of course there were no sheets or a blanket on it. Why would there be? It's not like Devon told anyone he planned on bringing someone home with him. Usually her mother was on top of these things so she must've been surprised by the friend too. Going to the hall closet, Lacey grabs out a set of fresh sheets and a pale blue comforter.
Upon finishing the bed, Lacey headed to her room to get dressed. Stripping out of her pajamas, Lacey stood in front of her mirror and looked at her reflection. Her breasts were getting larger over the last few years. They were now a small B-cup. And her stomach was still flat and trim. She attributed that to her swimming. Shaking her head, she went to her dresser to get some clothes.
Since she was still feeling quite bloated, she settled on some sweats and a nice t-shirt. She didn't look like she was on her period, but she wanted to at least be comfortable. Pulling her hair into a ponytail, Lacey bounded down the stairs just as the door was opening. First her dad walked in carrying a bunch of bags which he took straight to the kitchen. Then her mother came in with the cake. Finally her brother walked in with his duffel and his friend in tow.
Deciding to steal at glance at him, Lacey felt her throat go dry. He was the most gorgeous guy she had ever seen. And she was stuck here with him for the next few weeks. Devs friend had dark brown hair, brown eyes, and stood at least 5'3. And he screamed bad boy. Her period hormones were making her mad with lust. She just wanted to grab the guy and eat him like an ice cream cone. Hiding her face so he wouldn't see the flush that she felt rise to her cheeks, she ducked her head.
Hitching a thumb her way Devon introduced his friend to her real quick. "Lace this is my friend Adam. Adam, my baby sis Lacey. She's turning thirteen today." Adam nodded at her, and then Devon and him went past her up the stairs. Devon was taking Adam to his room so they can deposit their belongings. Lacey caught a whiff of Adam's cologne and her eyes rolled. He smelled heavenly. This was turning out to be an amazing birthday so far.

That night, Lacey's mother cooked a spaghetti dinner with salad, and garlic bread sticks. It was Lacey's favorite meal. Feeling self conscious because of Adam, Lacey didn't eat as much spaghetti. Nibbling on some bread sticks. She even ate more salad than was normal for her. Finally when it came time for the cake, she was eager for the night to be over so she could go to her room away from Devon and Adam. Adam was making her feel nervous. For the first time in her life she felt something for a guy she never felt before. Blowing out her candles with a quick silent wish, Lacey ate her piece of cake and asked to retire for the night.
Her mother walked over to her and put a hand on her forehead. ?"Are you sick dear? You never go to bed this early. And you barely ate anything for dinner."
Shrugging off her mother's hand, Lacey stole a glance at Adam. He as busy texting with Devon to someone. It actually kind of ticked her off. "No mother I'm fine. I just feel drained is all. Thank you for everything. If you don't mind I'd like to open my presents in the morning." Giving both her parents hugs and a quick kiss, she told them goodnight, and turning to her brother, "It's good to have you home Dev. Goodnight." After which she headed to her room.
A few hours later, Lacey's stomach began to growl. Sure everyone was in bed already, she climbed out of bed and threw her robe on over her knee length nightgown, before going downstairs to the kitchen. Before she made it to the doorway however, she collided with a large, very naked male chest. At first thinking it was Devon, she looked up to scold him about running around half naked, and then flushed crimson. It was Adam, and he was standing there wearing boxers and shirtless.
If he noticed her discomfort he either didn't care, or he was toying with her. She really didn't know the guy since she had just met him. "Sorry about that Lace. I wasn't watching where I was going. I guess I wasn't the only one who couldn't sleep huh?" Giving her a quick wink he started to head to the stairs, but stopped and turned to her. "Happy Birthday Lace. May all your wishes come true. See you tomorrow. Have a good night." Turning on his heel he bounded up the stairs quietly slipping into Devs room. Lacey stood there staring at his amazing backside before shaking her head.
Grabbing a quick snack and a bottle of water, Lacey headed back upstairs to her room. Her heart still hammering because of her encounter with Adam, she tried to go to sleep after eating. But she found that sleep was hard for her because all her brain could think of was that simmering hunk her brother brought home. Oh why did she have to be so young? If only she were a few years older then maybe she could approach him. And then it occurred to her what she would wish for every year on her birthday. Settling into bed, she closed her eyes and sleep took over.
The following morning when Lacey got up, she wasn't surprised to find that both her parents were at work. Being Lawyers they never got time off, even for holidays. They were lucky that they both were even able to go get Dev yesterday. Dev and Adam were still asleep. Who knows what time the two of them went to sleep for the night. Lord only knows what two nineteen year old guys do behind closed doors. Pushing her thoughts aside, she went over to her presents, and found a note from her mother.

Lacey your father and I are so proud of you. You are doing very good in school. Go ahead and open your presents. I've a few more things to get for Thanksgiving dinner this weekend, and then I'll be home. Your father may be late tonight. Tell Devon what's going on when he gets up.
Love your mother

Lacey smiled at her mothers note. Grabbing her first gift, she read the tag. It was from her mother and father. Inside was a new journal and a pack of pens. Her parents knew how much she liked to write so their gift meant a lot to her. Picking up her next gift she found that it was from Dev. He got her a silver bracelet that said Baby Sister?. That was so like her brother. Smiling she slipped it on. That's when she noticed another package laying there. Strange it wasn't there last night. Unless...
Picking it up, she read the tag and her suspicions were confirmed. It was from Adam and he must've slipped it here last night while he was downstairs. Opening the package, she was taken by surprise. Inside was some makeup in neutral colors, a Rebel Girl t-shirt, and a photo album. Opening the album, there was a picture of Adam and a caption that read 'To the first of many birthdays together'. Clutching the book to her heart, she felt alive. Adam was just trying to be friendly, but he didn't understand how important his gifts were to her. She would have to thank her brother of course. How else would Adam have known what to get her.
That night at dinner, Lacey kept glancing at Adam and then looking away. No one else seemed to notice her behavior except for Dev apparently, because as soon as her parents left the room to grab desert, he turned to his sister. Leaning over toward her he quietly spoke. "Lace, stop being weird. I don't know what's gotten into you, but please just stop." He pulled away just as her parents walked in with some ice cream and bowls. "I hope everyone is ready for some desert. Does anyone want a topping?" No one answered, but Adam couldn't help and overhear the exchange between Lace and her brother. He had no idea what he was talking about, then again he really didn't know anything about the Simpson family.

The rest of Devons break flew by. It seemed like no time at all Lacey and her parents were loading up the car to take him to the bus station. Lacey got sandwiched between Dev and Adam on the drive to the bus station. Although she was crushing on Adam, having her thigh against his was an unpleasant feeling for her. It made her feel flushed and that wasn't normal. Arriving at the station, after everyone filed out, the Simpsons cornered their son.
"You must come home for Easter Devon. We hardly get to see you anymore. And if Adam doesn't have any plans you can bring him along as well. He has been a real angel to have around. No trouble at all." Kissing him on the cheek they stepped back so he could leave. Agreeing that he was going to come back home for Easter and that he must bring Adam again sometime, the two of them turned and walked into the station to get on a bus that would take them to school.
