The year is 9050. It's been 3-months since I graduated from the academy on Donab 3. I was given command of a hi-tech gun-ship named the Krux 3. "Sure is a fine vessel you have" James, my communications managment officer or CMO, commented as we walked to the bridge. "I heard that you served onboard a science vessel before this?" "Yep, but she was destroyed by her own crew a few years ago. I was only 21 then." "I'm only 20,so not that long ago?" We continued to talk about a variety of diffrent topics as we headed toward the ships bridge, and even began to know each oter a little better as well.
By the time we arrived on the bridge, the crew-members stood up and saluted me, as was the standard when a captain was on the bridge.  "I'll tell y'all one thing". I sternly told the crew-members who saluted me, "Don't ever salute me unless it's a formal reason. I'm just your captain." I explained to them before they resumed their duties. As soon as i got comfortable in the Captains chair, Tom, my lutienant commander, informed me about a message he just intercepted. "Can you locate it?" "No, all it says is need assistance" "Ok, fred, lay in that course and engage" "Course laid in sir" My pilot, fred, commented before engaging the cruisers warp engines.
By the time we managed to follow the ion trail
