I was close, so very close to the safe zone. Just two maybe three yards left, but my legs had been over used and quit on me. With my legs cramped and my lungs on fire I lay there looking at the lines that meant safety. I saw feet running, four pairs, no two my vision was blurring. I felt cold hands grab mine and someone lifting my legs.

They won't make it  I thought not with me too I tried to squirm out of their grip, to tell them to go, but I was to weak to move, and my throat was to sore to talk.

They hit the line running.

I heard people crying.

As I opened my eyes, I saw the cloud that had almost engulfed us, And I started crying too.
