Minding The Nest.

I’m sorry that I chased you off, so I’ll just make amends,

a spot of baby sitting, and then we can be friends.

But you both have left me sitting here, guarding your own nest,

I know I said I’d watch it, so that you could have a rest;

I didn’t think you’d disappear for quite so very long

and the neighbour cats are calling me by singing out their song.

Don’t you do this to me – turn me in to a laughing stock

for if you push me too far, you’ll find you’ll have a shock.

I’ll leave your nest deserted, there will be no guard,

I wouldn’t want to do this so don’t make my life too hard;

You’ve had your little fly around, your break, your little rest

come on back and play your part by sitting in this nest.

I’ll lead my mates away from here, we’ll go the other way;

it will not be in this here tree that we decide to play.

I think I hear you twitter, you’re returning on the wing,

so now I can just hide that I did do this ‘not-cat’ thing.
