As sweet twilight softly descends,

The trees sway slightly in the breeze,

And the leaning light of the sun ends,

And the coyotes will give a howl of tease,

And the sunset will coil to nightfall,

A soft hoot from the whippoorwill,

A soft screech from the owl’s shawl,

The pond quiet and still,

In the darkness the stars twinkle,

Like the gleam off of pots and pans,

Catching the eye like the sound of a charm’s tinkle,

And there is the moon,

Catching the eyes of man,

And so night wears on,

Just as life is gone...
