Justice Will Always Prevail!

He knew what head done was wrong, and deeply regretted it. And now he had to face the consequences! Lawrence Geoffreys was now locked up in a custody prison cell at Warrington police station, waiting to be interviewed for his alleged crime. He had been arrested for domestic assault against his now ex-boyfriend Sebastian Jennings. In Lawrence’s mind he was beating Sebastian because he deserved it as he had discovered that Sebastian had  cheated on him with his new lover Jermaine Jackson who had found out about Sebastian’s abuse. Who could blame Sebastian for having an affair with someone else when he was being battered about by his partner?
But unfortunately  there was nothing Lawrence could do but to wait. He had been given a book by the custody prison officer to amuse himself. The book was called “Hippotamus” by Stephen Fry. He wasn’t in the moods to read at all, he just wanted to lie down on the uncomfortable prison cell bed and sleep. Lawrence hoped by doing this that the whole situation never occurred and kept telling himself that the nightmare he was having would soon be over! However this was no nightmare that Lawrence was having, it was actually happening, it was reality,
Lawrence now had to face the fact that he could face approximately eighteen months in prison, as this was his second arrest for domestic assault. Had he not learnt from the first one and the caution that he was given by the Custody Sargent?
About approximately a hour and half later, Lawrence’s cell door was unlocked and creaked as it was opened. On the other side of the cell door there was police officer who’s ethnic background was Afro-Caribbean, and smiling.
“You’re ready to be interviewed now. Follow me!” said the officer as he locked Lawrence’s cell, and Lawrence followed the officer out of the custody prison cell block, and went through a set of double doors and turned left into the room. The  officer then left. Lawrence was greeted by a middle aged Asian man who was dressed in a smart casual manner. He introduced himself as Navid El-Shariq. A solicitor, which Lawrence had requested when  he arrived in custody. Navid began to explain to Lawrence his role during the interview. He then asked Lawrence to tell him his side of the story of what happened between himself and Sebastian, which he did.
Navid told Lawrence he didn’t have to answer any of the questions and in reply to the officer’s questions he could use the phrase “no comment” and by doing that it would speed up the interview and that he was aiming to get Lawrence out of the station as quickly and smoothly as possible.
then a police officer by the name of Tim Barrimond walked in wearing a police officer uniform and told Lawrence that he would be interviewing him. The interview soon was underway and Lawrence gave the answer “no comment”  to every question that PC Barrimond was throwing at him. The interview was over in a hour flat.
Navid wished Lawrence luck, and with that Lawrence was escorted back to his cell, now waiting if he would be released. Sadly, PC Barrimond gave him the news the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had looked at the case and had decided that as this was Lawrence’s second arrest he would appear at Warrington Combined Crown and County Court Centre on Monday. Lawrence wasn’t really surprised by the news but now had to spend the rest of his weekend what he had left of it banged up at Warrington police station.
Meanwhile the alleged victim Sebastian Jennings was sitting in his bedroom with his boyfriend Jermaine Jackson.
“ I feel really bad getting Lawrence arrested twice!” said Sebastian guiltily.
“Oh come on babes! Have you forgotten the way he treated you! You were more like his punch bag than boyfriend!” said Jermaine reminding Sebastian what his ex was like.
“I’m so glad that you were there for me, I don’t know how I could have coped and you gave me the courage to dump Lawrence and get out of the violent relationship I was in!” Sebastian smiled appreciatively.
“You don’t have to worry about  that violent psycho of an ex, he’ll get what’s coming to him. Anyway I’m different from your ex I’ll never harm a hair on your head “ Jermaine promised.
“Thanks! Why weren’t we together in the first place?” Sebastian asked regretfully.
“You didn’t know your ex-boyfriend was going to a violent and abusive dickhead! But that doesn’t matter now we together now!” Jermaine answered.
“I love you Jay- Jay!” said Sebastian.
“I love you too Sebbie!” Jermaine replied back.
The two lovers had a passionate snog. All of sudden Sebastian’s mobile phone rang. Sebastian unlocked his lips’ from Jermaine’s and picked his phone out of his pocket and answered the call.
“Hello! Who’s this?” Sebastian enquired.
“Hello! I’m PC Tim Barrimond from Warrington police station, I interviewed your ex-boyfriend and he has been charged with domestic assault and will appear at Warrington Combined Crown and County Court Centre on Monday” he said.
“Thanks for informing me bye” Sebastian replied and ended the call.
“What did they say gorgeous?” Jermaine questioned.
“The officer said Lawrence has been charged with domestic assault and will appear at Warrington Combined Crown and County Court Centre tomorrow!” Sebastian responded.
“You going to court tomorrow?” Jermaine asked.
“Of course I am, I want him to suffer after what he did to me!” Sebastian replied.
The day of Lawrence’s court appearance dawned, Lawrence was wakened by the custody prison officer asking him whether he would like some breakfast. But Lawrence declined the offer of eating breakfast as he felt sick to the stomach with dread and fear! Today was Lawrence’s judgement as he would discover his fate. Whether he walked a free man or was sentenced to prison.  He decided to go back to sleep but as soon as he drifted off to sleep, there was the sound of his custody prison cell door creaking open which woke him instantly. On the other side of the door was a police officer.
“You’re off to court now!” he told Lawrence.
On hearing the police officer’s announcement, Lawrence slipped his trainers on , and walked out of his cell and it was locked behind him. There was a short grey haired female officer and a male bald officer. The bald officer handcuffed Lawrence and took him out from the station and into the car park where there was a black prison van waiting for him and other prisoners to be taken to Warrington Combined Crown and County Court Centre Once on the van, Lawrence was placed into a small cubicle which was the same size as a toilet cubicle! His handcuffs were taken off and his cubicle was then locked. Once all the other prisoners who were supposed to appear in court as well as Lawrence were on board. The black prison van made its journey to Warrington Combined Crown and County Court Centre. As the van made its journey to court, Lawrence peered out of window of his cubicle. He noticed school children walking to school on their own or with their parents. Businesses getting ready to open up for the busy day ahead. As well as people cycling or driving to their places of work.
The black finally reached its destination Warrington Combined Crown and County Court Centre. Lawrence’s cubicle was then opened and he was handcuffed and escorted off the van  by the female officer.
Lawrence was then registered and was put into a court cell (similar to the custody prison cell he was in at Warrington police station instead of a bed there was a wooden ledge to sit on). During his time waiting in the court cell he was asked by the female court warden  if wanted anything to eat or drink. But declined this offer also.
He was taken into an empty court cell with his solicitor Navid El-Shariq (the same person who was with him at Warrington police station when Lawrence was being interviewed). Navid advised Lawrence to plead guilty  even though Lawrence’s response  to every question in his interview was “no comment” as this may reduce  his jail sentence.
He was escorted back to his court cell by having one of his hands handcuffed to one of the court officers, the same routine was done when he was escorted to court, however there was two court officers who escorted Lawrence to court. Lawrence walked into the court room and stepped into the defendant box where a court officer stood with him inside the box.
“Please  stand and state your name and address” the magistrate requested.
Lawrence did as he was told.
“On the count of domestic assault, how do you plead guilty  or not guilty” the magistrate asked.
“Guilty!” Lawrence responded sadly.
“Is Mr Jennings still wanting to press charges?” queried the magistrate as she turned and asked Sebastian.
“Yes I do!” said Sebastian confidently.
“Very well, Mr Geoffreys I’m sentencing you to eighteen months in prison! Take him down” ordered the magistrate. With the that the two court officers began to take him back to his court cell. As he was leaving the court room Lawrence shouted.
“I’m sorry Sebbie , I hope you can forgive for what I have done, I’ll always love you!”
Once Lawrence was out of sight Sebastian and Jermaine left the court premises and made their way to the Mouse and Lion pub to celebrate winning the case.
But sadly and unfortunately for Lawrence, he was taken out of his court cell at quarter to six and was handcuffed and put on a different prison van that would take him to the HM Risley Prison where he would spend the next eighteen months of his life! He hated himself for what he had done and become. An abusive, violent, monster! Sebastian gad moved on and was with Jermaine, and there was no chance that Sebastian would go back to him and there was no way of repairing his relationship with him! Lawrence was so distraught and wished he could change the events that had occurred but it was done now. There was nothing he could now , as the van made its way to the prison Lawrence had to now focus on the future that stood before him. Eighteen months in prison!
“Oh well c’est la vie, its time for me to move on as my relationship with Seb is over! Its time for me to move on too. Who knows I might find someone like Seb in the prison we’ll just have to wait and see Lawrence thought to himself.
