The rain was turning into Ice.

I Knew i would have bruises, but i wasn’t caring. I kept walking down the stone roads of Oakly. For the last week I had been stalking this very popular tavern among the common folk, searching for the newest of Mistress Caroline’s courtesans in training. It was rumored that she was the daughter of the Goddess of Sin Ira; no one was sure where that rumor started, but if it was true then the kingdom of Crannersia and maybe even the Empire of black Snow was in deep shit.

After standing outside of the tavern for three hours I was soaked and about to reach hypothermia, my blonde hair was plastered to my pale skin, the snot dripping from my nose was turning into ice sickles. Not a single person i had asked knew anything of Caroline's new potage, but I had discovered that if i wanted information i was going to have to find some guy by the name of Kel Vander, apparently he was one of Caroline's old potages that ran away and found a job in the palace as the Captain of the guard. I didn't feel like hunting the guy down so instead of standing outside of the tavern with the chance of freezing to death, i muddled into the warmth of the packed tavern.

It was dark, there was people everywhere, it reeked of piss and alcohol, almost unbearable. I Pushed my way through the people keeping my cowl over my face.

Once I reached the bar top I reached into my pocket and pulled out a small leather bag of gold coins and slammed them on the top. The bartender jerked his head my way,”What can I Get you my boy?”

The man was older, grey streaks speckled his black beard, his arms were the size of my head, which scared me a bit when he started to stalk towards me. “Strongest Ale you got.”

“You got it.” He took my money and yelled across the tavern to a very clumsy waitress,” Somar, Get the good ale out of the back!” She shook as she skillfully slipped through the crowd, I couldn’t make out any of her fetchers, for the dreadful lighting. I scanned over the men in the room, many of them appeared to be castle guards, I could spot a few noblemen in the far back corner.

Soon after spotting the Nobles, they got up and left, drunk smirks laid upon their faces.

The bar waitress, Somar, came back holding two full bottles of ale, as she came closer to the bar top i could see her: sun kissed freckled skin, her violet eyes were covered by the bangs of her short cut khaki hair.  She looked youthful, around the age to be wed.

needs me, I’ll be going.” She unites the smock  on her small waist and lays it on the bartop. She quickly sprints off to the back, and out of my sight.

“That girl, all over the place, she is.” Losh said before turning to pour my ale.

The girl, somar, was quick to leave after, from what i understood in that short interaction with Losh, that a woman of high power ‘needs’ her for something so important that it pulled her away from her work.

“I Saw you looking at my waitress boy,” He turned and slammed the mug of ale in front of me,” three goldenes.”

“Look, Losh is it,” He nodded, I stepped back from the bar a bit,” I was not checking her out, I wa-”

“Then what was that glimmer in your eye when she was talking to me?” Losh was a bulky man, he could crush my head with his fingers. He leaned onto the bartop getting closer to me, I pulled my cowl farther over my face.

“Oh Losh Quit scaring the boy.” We both looked over the old woman sitting at the end of the bar top, she swigged down the last bit of her drink.

“Woman what have i told you abo-”

“Don’t sass me!” Losh shrugged back.

All i could do was watch as the woman criticized Losh, she threw every profanity in the book at him. The woman wore a cloak , I couldn’t see her face or body. Everything about this Tavern was strange, the amount of people, the lack of fights, women alone, the nobles, and strangest of all, the feeling that i'm being watched. I had feeling if i stayed any longer there would be trouble.

I exited the tavern with speed, i could hear Losh calling after me, i knew i left my bag of coins back on the top, but i could have cared less.

The world was still throwing chunks of ice at its surface, I was moving like a shadow through the streets of Oakly. That feeling of being watched followed me, it made my stomach turn.  I Darted down the next alleyway hoping the person or persons would follow me.

I was right, their footsteps clicked off the stone, my back was turned to them. The clicking stopped.

I had only two options at this point: turn and fight the person, or reveal my identity and hope that doesn’t get me killed. Though in Oakly i’m not the most loved person. If it wasn’t for Her sending me here to find him, then i would be back at the temple finishing my training, but since she was so insistent that he would help me finish my training, i caved and hid away on the first ship to Crannersia Oakly.

My breathing was steady.

They spoke up, voice sweet, and kind.It was muffled , they must have been wearing a mask.

“You’re looking for Caroline's potage, am i correct?” I Didn’t move.

“Yes.”

“People have pointed you to Captain Kel Vander for information, but you don't know where to find him or yo-.” They knew everything it seemed,” Go to Alinsky, he’s staying with the goddess Avaritia. Be careful she might not be to happy to see the Prince of Nordic in the Empire of black snow, you are the apprentice of her Enemy.”

I jerked around. No one was there. This person, how could they know, i was the Prince Of Nordic, and that my Empires Goddess sent me here. I threw the cowl off my head, my blonde hair was a mess, I looked up to the sleeting sky and there flying above me was a Hawk with golden feathers, I smiled a bit, Tristitia was watching her princeling. She Sent me into this thinking one thing, but i could tell her true goal. She wanted me to confront her fellow Goddess of Sin, Avaritia of Lust and Greed.

Tristitia You liar, you beautiful liar.
