"My feet sunk into the soft, wet sand as I walked along the shoreline. My feet sunk into the soft, wet sand as I walked along the shoreline. I thought back to a time when I couldn’t bear the sight of the stunningly blue water sliding up along the sand.

My dad left us a few years ago, four, I think. I had no idea where he went. I followed him with my eyes through a small window, watching as he went down by the salty ocean water and stood there, watching  the waves rolled in. Then, he walked away and a bit later, I saw him up on the small viewing ledge over the beautiful sea. Then, my mom pulled me away. I wasn't sure what had happened, just that when I returned to the window three minutes after I struggled away from mom, he was gone.

I stepped up and stood on the tough but comforting rock. The salty breeze softly blew my hair behind me, as if it was removing it from the pathway ahead. I looked out into the water, missing dad. I knew what happened to him, and I accepted it sadly. But I would be stronger.
