Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton was a Founding Father of the United States, who was the first United States Secretary of the Treasury. Alexander was born January 11th, 1757, Charlestown, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and died at age 49, July 12th, 1804, Greenwich Village, New York City, NY. He was married to Elizabeth Schuyler, and had eight children, Phillip Hamilton (Who died at age 19, in a duel with George Eacker), John Church Hamilton, James Alexander Hamilton, Eliza Hamilton, William S. Hamilton, Alexander Hamilton, Jr., and Angelica Hamilton.

Some of Hamilton's quotes are: "I never expect to see a perfect work from an imperfect man.", "Why has government been instituted at all? Because the passions of men will not conform to the dictates of reason and justice, without constraint.", "A national debt, if it is not excessive, will be to us a national blessing.", "In politics, as in religion, it is equally absurd to aim at making proselytes by fire and sword. Heresies in either can rarely be cured by persecution" and "When the sword is once drawn, the passions of men observe no bounds of moderation".

Hamilton was in the New York Company of Artillery, the Continental Army, and the United States Army. He served from 1775-1776, 1776-1781, and 1789-1800. He finished with the ranks Major general, and U.S.. Army Senior Officer. He fought in the American revolutionary war, the battle of Harlem heights, the battle of white plains, the battle of Trenton, the battle of Princeton, the battle of Brandywine, the battle of Germantown, the battle of Monmouth, the siege of Yorktown, and the Quasi-War.

Alexander was an orphan, his father left him right before the day of his tenth birthday, and his mother died when Hamilton was 12 After that, he moved in with his cousin, and soon after that his cousin committed suicide. Alexander did get to graduate from Kings College, New York (Columbia university). Hamilton was buried in Trinity Church Cemetery, New York City, with Angelica Schuyler.
