Linkat dashes between the trees, the moon barely illuminating her path, the birds chirping in the distance, and the sound of snapping branches echoing, mentally screaming at herself for how foolish this seems, trying to escape her races homeland, from the tyranny of her father, the occasional shouts of the guards chasing her can be heard as she pushes herself further, trying to get to the clearing, where her trusted mentor said an ally of his will meet her, the warm summer breeze calming her down.

The light can be seen from between the trees ahead, and in a last ditch attempt to lose her pursuers Linkat channels the last of the magical energy she can muster into a simple spell, a Grey Mist, her family's signature spell, poisonous to all who do not have Fakin blood in them, and dense enough to obscure vision almost entirely, but the toll on her body from using the magic in her blood, the profane blood magic her family lords over the commoners of the land tires her out.

"Just a bit farther! I can't enter the woods! It'd be an act of war!" a female voice up ahead can be heard yelling in, crisp and clear, sounding like the voice of an angel, and Linkat knows that voice from the stories her mentor had told her, "I'm coming Bob! Meet me at the tree line!" she yells out, her own voice coarse, tired, and raspy, a by product of the days she has been awake, unable to sleep through the unending torment of her father's goons.

Moments later she clears the tree line, and sees Bob, exactly as described by her mentor, a short, meek looking woman, wearing simple cloth clothing and bandage wraps around her hands, who quickly calls out to her, "Get ready! We're out of here!", before picking up Linkat and running, far faster than Linkat ever thought possible, so fast that the wind hurts her face and skin, her consciousness fading slowly.

Linkat wakes up, sweating and screaming, "Stay away! I got enough magic left in me to kill you!", her voice now back to normal, commanding, but also melodic, as her eyes adjust to the light she looks around at the stone walls, the large wooden door, the natural warmth that the capital of Atkinl is historically known for, and the bed underneath her, with Bob at her side, rigid from what appears to be an abrupt awakening, "Keep it down Linkat..." she mumbles.
