Fair Warning

They’ve given us fair warning, if Doris comes to call

she’ll come in with sufficient force to make some trees fall.

It’s not looking like so very much while she sits out to sea,

but a weather bomb she will become – well, we’ll have to wait and see.

No mere storm is Doris, they say the trough is getting deep

and alert we'll have to stay and on our toes to keep.

The wind it will be lashing with a force of so much strength;

don’t know how long it’s supposed to last but could be of some length.

The rain will be torrential with flooding a so real threat

but I have to say that so far there is no sign of her yet.

They’re saying now it’s possible that her course might change

and that we here might escape the worst part of her range.

I guess that we’ll just wait and see if she arrives tonight

and if she tries to hit us with her considerable might.

I’ll pull up all the covers and I’ll will myself to sleep

Where my dreams will comfort me and me will safely keep.
